Position Overview
The Welding Coordinator is responsible for overseeing welding operations, developing and qualifying welding procedures, and ensuring compliance with AWS or ISO 3834-2 standards. This position works closely with production engineering, quality, and suppliers to optimize welding technologies, troubleshoot metallurgical issues, and support global plant operations.

Key Responsibilities

Welding Procedures & Compliance
Develop and document WPS (Welding Procedure Specifications).
Ensure all welding activities meet AWS or ISO 3834-2 standards.
Supervise welding operations and oversee welder qualifications.
Process Optimization & Training
Collaborate with engineering and quality departments to enhance welding processes.
Evaluate and implement new welding technologies.
Lead training initiatives for welders on updated processes and technologies.
Qualification Oversight
Coordinate the qualification of welding processes and welders.
Conduct and document tests and compliance reviews.
Analyze results and prepare reports for process improvements.
Supplier Oversight
Ensure welding suppliers meet qualification standards.
Monitor supplier welding practices and provide feedback for improvement.
Problem Solving & Analysis
Perform root cause analysis on welding and metallurgical issues.
Collaborate with technical experts to implement corrective actions.
Support Across Locations
Ensure standardization of welding practices across multiple plants.
Provide training, guidance, and conduct quality audits as needed.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in manufacturing engineering or quality leadership
Strong knowledge of welding standards (AWS, ISO 3834-2)
Proficient in reading technical drawings, SAP, and standard PC applications
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills
Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, SPC, PFMEA, and APQP/PPAP processes

Preferred Qualifications

CWI or CWE certification
Master’s degree in a technical discipline
Familiarity with industry-specific quality systems and certifications (ISO 9001, ISO 3834-2)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $90,000.00 – $105,000.00 per year
