About The Role

The QA/QC Engineer will play a vital role in establishing and maintaining the quality assurance and control systems within Manastu Space’s manufacturing operations. This position is responsible for ensuring that every propulsion component, whether outsourced or produced in-house, adheres to the highest standards of precision, safety, and traceability essential for space-grade applications. The role involves developing and implementing quality management systems, conducting vendor audits, overseeing inspections at various stages of manufacturing, and ensuring compliance with aerospace standards such as AS9100D. As the key quality gatekeeper, the QA/QC Engineer will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, design, procurement, and testing to uphold quality standards and drive continuous improvement across all manufacturing activities.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess 4 to 7 years of hands-on experience in manufacturing quality within aerospace, defense, or precision engineering environments. A strong background in inspection of machined components, welding quality control, vendor management, and pressure system testing is essential. Familiarity with setting up or significantly improving QMS, especially in accordance with aerospace standards like AS9100D, is highly preferred. Educational qualifications include a B.E. or B.Tech degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or a related discipline. Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in GD&T, CMM, gauges, surface roughness measurement, and non-conformance management tools such as 8D, 5-Why, and Fishbone analysis. Experience with NADCAP, MIL-SPEC, or similar standards will be considered an advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and maintain a robust Quality Management System (QMS) aligned with AS9100D standards, ensuring all manufacturing activities meet specified quality requirements.
  • Qualify vendors through audits, develop and maintain the Approved Vendor List (AVL), and monitor vendor performance to ensure compliance and quality consistency.
  • Establish inspection protocols for incoming materials, in-process manufacturing, and final release, utilizing appropriate measurement tools and techniques.
  • Define and oversee quality control processes for critical manufacturing steps such as welding (including WPS and welder qualification), precision machining, and leak-tight assemblies.
  • Design and supervise testing procedures including helium leak tests, hydrostatic pressure tests, and functional checks to validate hardware integrity and performance.
  • Manage the Non-Conformance Report (NCR) system, conduct root cause analyses, and drive corrective and preventive actions to address quality issues effectively.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for all inspection reports, material certificates, and process records to ensure full traceability of components and assemblies.
  • Coordinate with multiple teams across manufacturing, design, procurement, and testing to ensure quality standards are integrated into all processes.
  • Set up quality systems for in-house VMC and CNC machining operations, including First Article Inspection (FAI) and calibration management.
  • Analyze quality data and defect trends to identify systemic issues, driving continuous process improvements and fostering a culture of quality ownership.
  • Conduct internal audits to ensure compliance with AS9100D and prepare the organization for external audits and future certifications.
  • Develop, review, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for manufacturing, inspection, and testing activities, ensuring they are accessible and up-to-date.
  • Lead and mentor QA/QC inspectors and technicians, building a high-performing team committed to quality excellence and accountability.
