QA / Safety Officer

Join a well-established steel processing and fabrication business that values quality, safety and continuous improvement.
We are seeking an experienced QA / Safety Officer with a strong background in the steel processing or steel fabrication industry. This is a hands-on role working closely with management and employees to maintain high standards across quality assurance, workplace health and safety, compliance and employee engagement.
This is an essential requirement: previous experience within the steel processing or steel fabrication industry.
About the Role
- Permanent full-time position
- Monday to Friday
- Early start available from 6:30am
- Canning Vale location
Key Responsibilities
Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Develop, implement and maintain Quality Management Systems and workplace procedures.
- Establish, review and continuously improve quality standards, specifications and processes.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to maintain Quality Accreditation Systems.
- Investigate, manage and resolve Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).
- Monitor quality performance and recommend continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with relevant quality standards and legislative requirements.
Work Health & Safety
- Develop, implement and review Workplace Health & Safety policies, procedures and programs.
- Conduct workplace inspections, hazard identification and risk assessments.
- Investigate incidents, prepare reports and implement corrective and preventative actions.
- Provide guidance and coaching to employees on safe work practices.
- Monitor compliance with company policies, procedures and legislative requirements.
- Promote a positive safety culture throughout the business.
Training & Employee Support
- Identify training needs and coordinate employee training programs.
- Conduct employee inductions for new starters.
- Coordinate pre-employment and ongoing employee medical assessments.
- Foster open communication with employees and support positive employee relations.
- Assist in driving a culture of accountability, safety and continuous improvement.
About You
To be successful, you will have:
- Previous QA and/or Safety experience within the steel processing or steel fabrication industry (essential).
- Sound knowledge of Australian WHS legislation and quality management principles.
- Experience conducting risk assessments and incident investigations.
- Experience managing quality systems and NCRs.
- Strong understanding of quality accreditation and compliance requirements.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- A proactive approach with a passion for continuous improvement.
