QA / Safety Officer

Canning Vale, WA | Permanent Full-Time

Join a well-established steel processing and fabrication business that values quality, safety and continuous improvement.

We are seeking an experienced QA / Safety Officer with a strong background in the steel processing or steel fabrication industry. This is a hands-on role working closely with management and employees to maintain high standards across quality assurance, workplace health and safety, compliance and employee engagement.

This is an essential requirement: previous experience within the steel processing or steel fabrication industry.

About the Role

  • Permanent full-time position
  • Monday to Friday
  • Early start available from 6:30am
  • Canning Vale location

Key Responsibilities

Quality Assurance & Compliance

  • Develop, implement and maintain Quality Management Systems and workplace procedures.
  • Establish, review and continuously improve quality standards, specifications and processes.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to maintain Quality Accreditation Systems.
  • Investigate, manage and resolve Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).
  • Monitor quality performance and recommend continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant quality standards and legislative requirements.

Work Health & Safety

  • Develop, implement and review Workplace Health & Safety policies, procedures and programs.
  • Conduct workplace inspections, hazard identification and risk assessments.
  • Investigate incidents, prepare reports and implement corrective and preventative actions.
  • Provide guidance and coaching to employees on safe work practices.
  • Monitor compliance with company policies, procedures and legislative requirements.
  • Promote a positive safety culture throughout the business.

Training & Employee Support

  • Identify training needs and coordinate employee training programs.
  • Conduct employee inductions for new starters.
  • Coordinate pre-employment and ongoing employee medical assessments.
  • Foster open communication with employees and support positive employee relations.
  • Assist in driving a culture of accountability, safety and continuous improvement.

About You

To be successful, you will have:

  • Previous QA and/or Safety experience within the steel processing or steel fabrication industry (essential).
  • Sound knowledge of Australian WHS legislation and quality management principles.
  • Experience conducting risk assessments and incident investigations.
  • Experience managing quality systems and NCRs.
  • Strong understanding of quality accreditation and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • A proactive approach with a passion for continuous improvement.
