Job Summary: The Manufacturing Floor and Quality Assurance Supervisor is a key role in managing the manufacturing process and ensuring high-quality products. Responsibilities include overseeing the floor team and fostering the development of both competence and commitment among team members. The individual aligns objectives, development levels, and leadership styles, conduct timely performance reviews, and support team members in adhering to safety protocols and maintaining consistent quality standards.

The incumbent in this position is expected to model the following practices on a daily basis: 1) Demonstrate alignment with the company’s mission and core business values; 2) Collaborate with key internal/external resources; 3) Participate in ongoing self-development.

Essential Functions:

Hires, develops, evaluates, and influences effective and consistent productivity and teamwork to ensure the delivery of Legendary Customer Service (LCS)
Models, promotes, reinforces, and rewards the consistent use of HOLT’s Values Based Leadership (VBL) tools, models and processes to ensure alignment with our Vision, Values, and Mission
Coaches, mentors, and trains Team Members; task and behavior oriented
Performs job duties of other team members such as Lead & Quality Champions or Section Manager during periods of his/her absence
Provides regular input to direct Manager regarding the achievement of targeted goals around the manufacturing and quality assurance processes
Collects data and updating metric boards as needed
Helps create and update Standard Work, implement and embed Lean manufacturing principles
Provides quality assurance inspections of completed tasks, resolving issues related to safety, quality, velocity, and cost
Assists with Value Stream Optimization through the engagement of In Process Validation (IPV) and Quality Gate methodologies
Understands the overall flow of the line and technical aspects of the process in area of responsibility
Adjusts line staffing to meet flow requirements, supporting the section’s production plan
Translates the direction set by the Section Manager to task assignments for each Team Member in the given area to meet the section’s plan/requirements
Models and teaches fundamental Lean principles, commit to successful implementation, and continually look for and identify waste
Communicates effectively with various teams to report out on the area’s status relative to plan
Meets production requirements while maintaining a positive working relationship with Team Members on the line
Assists in leading in Rapid Improvement Workshops (RIWs) and Kiazen events to continuously improve processes, safety, and quality
Troubleshoots and diagnoses defects, participating in Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) team to eliminate reoccurrence
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, e.g., Technician Training Path
Ensures the performance of equipment and work area through regular operator checks and maintenance resulting in operational equipment and work areas in good, clean, and orderly condition (Operator Performed Maintenance – OPM, and 5S)
Participates or leads Process Improvement Dialogs in their area of responsibility
Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards
Performs other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Demonstrated skills in developing, coaching, and training others
Demonstrates proficiency with current computer software, related hardware, and machine electronic systems
Effective utilization of organizational, planning, self-management, problem solving, time management, and multi-tasking skills
Sound decision-making and judgment skills
Strong communication skills along with the ability to effectively collaborate with outside individuals, groups, and cross functional teams
The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences
Ability to work in fast paced environment with frequent interruptions
Ability to diagnose and determine corrective actions to be taken on issues and referring to Management for support, if needed

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent required or combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skill, and abilities
Up to two years of evaluating business processes, quality and efficiency improvements required, four preferred
6 Sigma green belt training & a working knowledge of CPS is preferred

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; coaching and development; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Travel:

Some travel may be expected

Physical Requirements:

Significant amount of time standing, walking, kneeling, crouching, stooping, climbing, and reaching
Constant movement and use of limbs, hands; requires good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina
Ascends/descends with gradual or continuous progress by oneself, using both hands and feet and climbs up and down ladders and/or equipment
Routinely reacts to visual, auditory, and other signals, including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect work
Be able to maneuver safely and work underneath equipment and cribbed products
Frequently lifts and moves materials and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
Must be able to move objects, and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue

Work Environment:

Regularly works indoors around moving equipment and exposed to flashes of light from welding, and loud noise levels
Exposure to small quantities of chemicals, dust, steam, high-pressure water and high-speed rotating equipment
May work in extremely bright or inadequate lighting
Exposure to high noise levels and body vibration
May be required to work in confined workspaces, awkward positions, and high places
Possible exposure to minor burns, cuts, bites, or stings
