About The Role
STi is currently seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Quality Assurance (QA) Specialist to join our Test and Evaluation Department. This role is integral to ensuring that all processes, operations, and deliverables meet the strict standards of quality, safety, and compliance required within the defense industry. The QA Specialist will be responsible for supporting the department’s quality assurance activities, including conducting audits, reviewing project and training records, and supporting various quality-related initiatives. This position offers an excellent opportunity to work on complex undersea warfare systems and contribute to national defense projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in quality assurance within technical or engineering environments, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related technical field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in quality assurance, preferably within defense, engineering, or technical testing environments.
- Strong knowledge of quality standards, procedures, and audit processes.
- Experience with quality management systems (QMS) and related documentation.
- Familiarity with technical project management, training records, and safety qualifications.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and quality management software tools.
- Knowledge of defense or military standards is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Perform quality audits and reviews to ensure compliance with established standards and procedures, including audits of quality inspection devices and project plans.
- Support the management of quality documentation, including updating logs, assigning project plan numbers, and maintaining Repair Review Board (RRB) records.
- Review and update Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) reports, coordinating with relevant stakeholders to resolve quality issues promptly.
- Conduct regular quality walk-throughs and participate in system audits, including Book to Floor/Floor to Book audits of the Ordnance Information System and explosives materials.
- Oversee crane lift observations, review crane certifications, and ensure proper handling procedures are followed during operations.
- Coordinate and support training programs for technical staff, including managing training records, qualifications, and certifications such as TPM and explosive safety qualifications.
- Assist in the development and delivery of Quality Management System (QMS) training to department personnel, identifying training needs for continuous improvement.
- Support the Repair Review Board (RRB) process by managing documentation, scheduling reviews, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives by analyzing quality metrics and implementing corrective actions to enhance overall department performance.
