SUMMARY:
In addition to the duties of the QA Technician, the QA & Label Coordinator Technician must follow all plant safety, Good Manufacturing Practices and Food Safety rules and regulations. Documentation and paperwork procedures must be followed as well as verbal and written instructions and guidelines according to the job requirements. The QA & Label Coordinator Technician will be responsible for receiving, accurately inventory and control all labels associated with bottling production. The QA & Label Coordinator Technician will assist Customer Service by sending product samples to customers. The QA & Label Coordinator Technician will back-up the QA Technician and Production Worker II as needed and if applicable. This role does not have direct reports.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with Mizkan America safety policies, OSHA regulations, GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), and SOP (Standard Operating Procedures).
Label receiving inspection of all incoming labels per Label Receiving SOP.
Receive labels and confirm the incoming label is the correct revision.
Communicate with the Corporate Label Coordinator on label supplies, lead times to support the production schedule, transfers or to resolve quality and quantity problems with label vendors.
Label inventory control will consist of placing labels on hold as necessary, complete documentation and notify appropriate personnel per Non-conformance SOP in the D365 system. Follow disposition instructions as generated. Notify corporate purchasing of low labels inventory.
Manage label compliance with label stocks related to Kosher, Non-Kosher, Non-GMO, and Organic requirements.
Label issuing will consist of pull labels from inventory for production & re-inventory unused labels at the end of production runs.
Conduct weekly/monthly/yearly cycle counts to reconcile label inventory discrepancies.
Keep current on the manufacturing schedule reviewing the current schedule several times a day to keep aware of potential schedule changes and facilitate the coordination required to support.
Back up coverage for Lab doing line checks and checking bulk samples.
Perform sanitation tasks as listed on the Master Cleaning Schedule or as assigned by the QA Supervisor. Ensure sample and label areas are organized and maintained in a hygienic condition.
Receive and process sample requests from customer service which entails obtaining samples from warehouse, inspecting and shipping to ensure samples are in good condition and defect free.
Log sample requests to include warehouse request dates, batch numbers, tracking information and ship dates.
Communicate progress of samples with customer service regularly.
Send out Plant packages through UPS and FedEx as required.
Effectively communicate with QA Supervisor/QA Manager on any issues of non-compliance or for assistance.
May perform miscellaneous duties as required by the QA Supervisor or Manager.
Will assist/support QA Manager in maintaining company quality standards and during audits.
Follow all safety rules to include but not limited to understanding of LOTO and good housekeeping.
Responsible for food product quality and safety.
EDUCATION:
High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required
Associate degree in business field preferred
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
2 years of Quality background required
2 years’ experience within a food processing, bottling, liquid filling/blending and/or consumer goods manufacturing/packing environment preferred.
Must be able to work under varying circumstances, such as changes in procedures, operating/customer requirements.
Intermediate computer knowledge, required (MS Office, D365, Mercury Gate, Smartsheets)
Ability to work respectfully and efficiently with others in a Team environment.
Strong organizational, problem-solving and analytical skills.
Ability to adapt to changing business needs and deadlines on short notice.
Strong multitasking skills is required.
Continuous mental and visual attention is required to perform duties, involving repetitive or diversified work requiring constant alertness or activity, required.
Must be able to work overtime and/or weekends when required.
Intermediate mathematics skills required. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and perform complex division calculations.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy required.
Ability to communicate effectively in written, verbal and in interpersonal capacity.
Must be respectful and work well with all levels of personnel.
Ability to work in high temperatures (hot or cold), working at heights, climb ladders and exposure to strong smells, dust, gases, fumes and chemical or require personal protective equipment.
Ability to use Personal Protective Equipment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Physical aspects of the job as performed in an 8-hour workday.
Must be able to see, sit, stand, walk, speak, hear, reach, bend, twist, ascend/ descend.
Ability to pull, push, lift and carry up to 50 lbs., 50+ lbs. with assistance.
