Role Purpose:
The incumbent will work with a variety of inspection and test equipment and methods, processes and products, ensuring proper procedures are being followed and documented in order to maintain product quality and records traceability. He/she will also assist to ensure non-conforming product is appropriately identified and removed from the production flow until such product can be disposed.
Main responsibilities
Monitor production processing through random QA audits.
Ensure all samples have been collected and delivered to the lab.
Conduct necessary quality inspections using proper equipment and techniques.
Conduct statistical analysis on selected processes and report findings.
Assist with problem solving – root cause analysis – corrective actions.
Follow up on implementation of corrective actions and escalates to higher authority if not actioned.
Maintain accurate documentation of quality inspections results.
Ensure incoming materials are in compliance with required specifications.
Ensure outgoing products are in compliance with required specifications.
Ensure production personnel are following proper procedure for ongoing production checks.
Assist with training and instruction for production operators in QA measuring procedures.
Development and maintenance of quality procedures and work instructions.
Audit and maintenance compliance to required quality management system standards.
Provide management with detailed quality reports as required – daily, weekly, monthly, etc.
Maintain quality objectives, prevent complaints and claims.
Ability to interpret customer and sales specifications and apply subjective quality decisions to product (i.e. product appearance, colour, texture, etc)
Continuous improvement of product quality through attention to process as expected.
Provide a trouble shooting resource on quality issues as well as being comfortable working independently.
Packaging tests on delivery and during production, including pallets checks and daily swab testing.
Assist in project based requirement including checking and signing for goods.
Collaborating and reporting critical information using MS Office – Mainly MS Excel and assisting with general administration support.
Required Qualifications:
BSc. degree in a technical field is strongly preferred.
Tertiary Qualification (BSc Food Science or Food Technology or Microbiology or Biotechnology).
A degree in Animal Science would be considered.
Required Experience:
Minimum 3 years’ relevant working experience in laboratory environment.
Must have a valid drivers license and have own vehicle.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
Must have a strong knowledge of Feed Safety Programs (HACCP, GMPs etc) and Standard Operating Procedures.
Must be knowledgeable in various Feed products or processing principles and preparation system.
Must possess knowledge of Health, Safety, OHSA, ISO practices and regulations applicable to the laboratory.
Ability to identify non-compliance of Feed product and conduct root cause analysis for corrective action.
Must have a working knowledge of product inspections and analysis.
Must be proficient with MS Office and other applicable computer programs.
Must have the ability to lead and manage a team, and make operational and technical decisions that fall within the ambit of his/her responsibilities.
Able to establish, maintain effective work relationships and resolve conflicts.
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to work systematically and prioritize workload, work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Must possess knowledge of statistical process control.
Ability to identify and facilitate implementation of innovation that improves the quality of laboratory processes.
