The QA Tester/Automation Lead works at the intersection of Operations, Development, and Product to ensure end-to-end quality across multiple interconnected projects. This role participates from the earliest phases of analysis and requirements gathering, through test design, execution, reporting, and continuous improvement. The Test Lead owns the manual and automated testing strategy, builds regression and coverage matrices across systems, and integrates automated validations into the DevSecOps pipeline. The position also provides operational alignment—ensuring all business-critical flows are validated consistently across projects and production environments.

Ensure Quality Assurance

  • Partner with Operations, Product Owners, Business Analysts, and Developers from early analysis through delivery. Translate business requirements into clear, testable acceptance criteria. Lead test planning activities including identifying test types, impact analysis, and required regression coverage.
  • Analyze and Design detailed test cases (manual and automated) based on requirements and system analysis.
  • Execute and document test results for QA, UAT and Production validation.
  • Report any issues with clarity, track them through closure, and maintain transparent communication with operations and development teams.
  • Identify regression test cases and maintain a comprehensive regression suite. Create and update traceability matrices mapping business requirements to test cases. Develop end-to-end coverage for processes that span multiple systems and interconnected projects.
  • Ensure satisfaction with non-functional requirements.

Development of test plans and strategies

  • Design, develop, and maintain automated tests using Playwright, Leapwork and other appropriate tools. Integrate automated suites into CI/CD pipelines to support DevSecOps quality gates. Monitor automated test performance, investigate failures, and drive improvements.
  • Coach and guide QA team members or contractors on testing best practices. Collaborate with Operations on production validation, runbook testing, and incident reproduction. Track and report quality KPIs such as coverage %, defect metrics, pass/fail trends, cycle time, and automation ROI. Promote continuous improvement across QA processes, tooling, and automation practices.
  • Keep up to date on evolving technology frameworks, tools, patterns, and methodologies.
  • Identify test deliverables, responsibilities, and risks.

Education and Experience.

Required:

  • Bachelor’s in computer science, engineering, or related field.
  • 8+ years relevant experience.
  • Bilingual – English & Spanish.

Certifications.

Preferred:

  • ISTQB.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities.

Required:

  • Strong experience in test case creation, execution, defect triage, and risk management.
  • Hands-on automation expertise with tools such as Playwright and Leapwork.
  • Experience integrating test suites into CI/CD pipelines (GitLab, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, etc.).
  • Ability to build and maintain regression suites and coverage matrices.
  • Solid understanding of SDLC, DevOps, and DevSecOps principles.
  • Ability to work closely with Operations and Development teams across multiple projects.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • Ability to live demo the success of testing to the business or stakeholders.
  • Able to perform risk management.
  • Able to work with Word, Excel, Outlook, and Slack (or similar applications).
  • Project management tools (Jira or similar).
  • Test management tools (Zephyr, Qtest, TestRail, or similar).
  • Ability to use a test matrix and follow its traceability.
  • Ability to perform test estimation based on the requirements.
  • Ability to tailor or adapt existing testing methodology and practices to the needs of a specific project.
  • Support test teams with training and/or mentoring and communicate all related to the quality assurance process and culture.

Preferred:

  • API testing experience (REST, Postman, etc.).
  • Knowledge of SQL for data validation.
  • Exposure to performance, security, or accessibility testing.
  • Experience leading QA teams or providing technical mentorship.
  • Understand the life insurance terms and flow to process a policy, claims, and all actors in a policy.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including with non-technical stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail.
