Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Manufacturing Quality Engineer to join our dynamic team. The quality engineer will champion, support and lead an effective quality management system. He or she is responsible for ensuring that all organization managers, process owners and supervisors develop and maintain their part of the quality management system. The quality engineer will work in a “hands on” environment utilizing a small staff so he/she must be willing to perform all duties relating to quality matters as needed.

The quality engineer monitors and advises on how the management system is performing, which may often include the publication of statistics regarding company performance against set measures. A key role of the quality engineer is that of ensuring that customer requirements and expectations have been accurately identified and that the organization is meeting or exceeding customer expectations.

Additionally, he/she will be responsible for supporting the development and maintenance of a customer-focused culture within the organization. The Quality Engineer will work closely with other departments as follows:

Liaising with managers and staff, particularly in areas such as design, production and purchasing.
Encouraging all staff to incorporate a quality related mindset into their work methods.
Acting as key contact with customers’ auditors and being responsible for ensuring the execution of corrective actions and ongoing compliance with customers’ specifications.
Assisting, directing, delegating, and/or coordinating problem solving efforts as needed with all departments to resolve internal and external quality issues.

Conduct regular assessments of manufacturing systems and recommend upgrades or changes as necessary.
Provide technical support during the installation and maintenance of manufacturing equipment.
Train production staff on new processes, equipment, and safety protocols.

Requirements

3+ yrs. experience involved with Quality or technical manufacturing setting preferred.
ISO 9001 experience and knowledge
Computer skills – Internet search, MS Office Suite, and superb database management
Knowledge, use of SolidWorks.
Occasional heavy lifting (<50 lbs.) Understand and use precision instruments such as calipers Must be able to read mechanical and general fabrication drawings. Must be a self-starter and work individually with minimal instruction Must have strong attention to detail. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills. Must have excellent organizational skills. Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems is preferred. Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, Engineering, and Supply Chain Management. Knowledge of Rotational Molding, Smart, Injection and/or other Plastics Manufacturing.
