Role and Responsibilities
The Quality Control Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that fresh produce meets company and customer quality standards throughout the supply chain. This position conducts field inspections, communicates quality concerns, supports inventory accuracy, and works closely with growers, packing facilities, sales, and food safety personnel.
Essential Responsibilities:
· Quality assurance
o Travel to farms and packing houses to conduct quality inspections on fresh produce
o Thoroughly inspect product and provide detailed inspection report to administration
o Visit retailers to check on quality and presentation of our product
· Communicate distressed products to sales team
· Inspect product transfers between facilities
· Manage inventory of packed produce
Additional Responsibilities:
· Coordinating product shuttling between packing houses, customers, and backhauls
· Manage inventory of raw materials and packaging supplies
· Conduct annual training/refresher classes on USDA grades and standards
· Continual updates on customer quality/grade specifications
· Assist Food Safety team periodically
Qualifications and Education Requirements
· Bachelor’s degree in food science, Agriculture, Horticulture, Plant Science, or a related field preferred.
· Three to five years of experience in quality control, produce inspection, agriculture, or a related field preferred.
· Highly motivated, able to work in a proactive fast paced environment
· Any equivalent combination or experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
Preferred Skills
· Must possess excellent verbal communication skills
· Ability to organize travel schedules and conduct regular travel to inspection sites.
· Be able to work independently of direct office supervision and file all reports, requests for information and expense vouchers in a timely manner
· Understand and carry out detailed written and verbal instructions and to deal with problems involving a few variables in standardized situations
· Ability to make difficult yet conclusive/objective decisions
· Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Google Sheets.
· Ability to utilize or learn software or technical applications and systems
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to work in refrigerated warehouses and outdoor agricultural environments.
- Ability to climb ladders or load docks when necessary.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
Pay: $50,000.00 – $60,000.00 per year
