QC Lab Administrator

Location: Salt Lake City, UT

Summary:

The QC Lab Administrator supports sample processing, flow, and testing throughout the laboratory’s sample management process. The admin completes the necessary sample documentation for the lab to ensure samples are tested correctly and appropriately. The admin maintains proper records in accordance with FDA guidelines for Foods and Dietary Supplements and other relevant regulatory bodies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following, but are not limited to:

  • Ensures compliance with established regulations and customer requirements, including GMPs as listed in 21 CFR 111 and 117, and Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) scheme;
  • Tracks, and reports on, sample turnaround status and timing;
  • Puts together Reduced Testing Qualification packets and manages Reduced Testing Database;
  • Coordinates internal and external lab testing for raw material, blend, finished product, stability, and investigational samples throughout the entire laboratory testing process;
  • Manages finished product and raw material retains, as well as stability test samples;
  • Follows cGMP guidelines and processes as established in department SOPs;
  • Performs routine operation of QC analytical, microbiological, and organoleptic analyses as assigned;
  • Performs sample testing when asked;
  • Maintains safe, efficient, and compliant lab operations;
  • Reports and evaluates results and data entry within LIMS;
  • Participates in accredited proficiency testing when needed;
  • Completes required training as needed;
  • Maintains a clean, safe, and organized work environment compliant with lab operations and procedures;
  • Perform other duties as deemed necessary.

Requirements and Skills

  • High school diploma required; some college work a plus;
  • Strong documentation practices and record keeping skills;
  • Ability to type 35 wpm;
  • Creative problem solving skills;
  • Ability to interact successfully with both internal and external customers at all levels;
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize responsibilities and be flexible with changing lab needs in a team environment;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;
  • Detail oriented and highly organized;
  • General knowledge of chemistry and/or microbiology fundamentals, as related to quality control not required, but a plus;
  • Experience with cGLP’s a plus;
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft office and general computer concepts;
  • Intermediate math, communication, and problem solving skills;
  • Ability to follow company processes and procedures;
  • Ability to work without direct supervision.

Work Conditions & Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit for extended hours;
  • Ability to view a computer screen and type for extended hours;
  • Ability to work in a laboratory environment;
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.;
  • Ability to wear any required PPE;
  • Ability to work around a variety of different smells and aromas;
  • Other physical requirements include occasional squatting, bending, twisting, and bi-lateral hand and wrist movement;
  • Ability to adjust work schedule as business needs require.
