Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced QC Laboratory Project Manager to lead pharmaceutical laboratory capital projects from concept through commissioning, qualification support, turnover, and closeout.
Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, execution, and closure of quality control projects, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.
- Manage project scope, schedule, budget, and resources using advanced project management methodologies.
- Facilitate requirements-gathering sessions with stakeholders to define project objectives, deliverables, and success criteria.
- Lead design, procurement, construction, installation, commissioning, and turnover activities.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams including Engineering, QC Operations, Quality, EHS, Maintenance, Sourcing, contractors, and external consultants.
- Oversee laboratory equipment replacement and infrastructure upgrades, including HVAC, utilities, gases, fume hoods, monitoring systems, and laboratory layout improvements.
- Ensure projects meet safety, quality, compliance, cost, and schedule requirements.
- Manage contractors, design firms, invoices, change orders, and project documentation.
Skills
- Proven experience supervising technical projects within a laboratory or manufacturing setting with strong leadership capabilities.
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously using tools like Trello, Confluence, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel data analysis), SharePoint, or similar platforms.
- Excellent communication skills for effective stakeholder engagement and team leadership across diverse functions.
- Ability to facilitate meetings effectively while managing conflict resolution and negotiation strategies.
- Knowledge of project scheduling software such as Primavera P6 or MS Project for detailed planning and resource allocation.
- Experience implementing Lean principles like Kaizen for continuous process enhancement within regulated environments.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
- Minimum 10 years of experience managing capital projects in pharmaceutical laboratory environments.
- Experience with GMP-regulated facilities, laboratory infrastructure, commissioning, qualification support, and contractor management.
- Strong project planning, budgeting, scheduling, risk management, and stakeholder management skills.
- Fully bilingual in English and Spanish.
- Availability for up to 15% domestic and international travel.
- A Puerto Rico professional engineering license is preferred.
