What does a Quality Analyst do at WPP Production?
As a QC / Proofreader within our busy Print Production department, you will ensure all work is quality-controlled to the highest standards, prepared for delivery on time, and adheres to client brief and brand guidelines. You will possess an exceptional eye for detail, spotting even the smallest errors, and clearly communicating necessary corrections. This role involves working in a fast-paced environment, collaborating closely with Creative and Technical Artworkers, and Print Project Managers, ensuring consistency and quality across all materials for global brands.
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive quality control of all materials produced by the Print Production department, ensuring adherence to client briefs, brand/campaign guidelines, timelines, and deadlines.
- Verify file types (e.g., PDF, DOC, PPT, JPG) meet client requirements.
- Check page sizes, bleed, text to trim, maximum file sizes, and text-free areas against supplied specifications.
- Confirm print profiles and colours meet brief specifications.
- Compare produced versions against client-supplied copy and visuals.
- Checking all work against brand guidelines or campaign-specific guidelines and ensuring all fonts, layouts and content are consistent to those guidelines.
- Identifying necessary changes and marking up annotations clearly and concisely – you will be comfortable with using all the mark-up and comment tools in Acrobat Pro, Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
- Check page numbers, page headings, table of contents, appendices, illustrations, logos, and captions for accuracy, consistency, and correct placement.
- Using our ‘PDF comparator’ app to check the client’s files against the files we have created and using it to ensure our internal version control is always correct.
- Check documents for accessibility, including verifying URLs, alt-text imagery and checking text ordering for text-to-speech readers.
- Check supplied Masters for fit of purpose and guideline adherence.
- Ensure translated artworks adhere to local market and language guidelines.
- Deliver consistently high-quality, on-brand work within agreed timeframes.
- Proofread in English (UK or US) and correct spelling, grammar, punctuation and content.
- Provide copy editing and copywriting support upon request.
- Work collaboratively with internal and external teams (print studio, client, wider Hogarth team) to ensure quality and consistency.
- Proactively resolve issues and escalate as appropriate.
- Manage work using relevant Hogarth technologies and adhere to agreed processes and best practices.
- Escalate any issues to your Line Manager.
- Appreciation, adherence and enforcement of Hogarth key policies.
Requirements
- At least 1-2 years of experience in a QC team, proofreading, or copywriting role. Candidates with primary experience in proofreading/copywriting must be eager to expand their QC skillset.
- Mac user with excellent working knowledge of Adobe Acrobat and its comment/annotation tools.
- Competent in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Comfortable and proficient with marking up content on screen.
- Strong knowledge of print production and print-ready artwork.
- Exceptional eye for detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
