What We’re Looking For:
We are currently hiring a full-time non-exempt (eligible for overtime) Quality & Food Safety Assistant. This position organizes and assists the QA & Food Safety Manager with audits, training, and record keeping to ensure the consistent quality production of all products in compliance with company and customer standards, and Federal/State regulations in a cost-effective manner.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Reviews and maintains quality standard records on- a- daily basis. Assists with FDA and regulatory audits. Assists QA Manager with reviews of all QC specifications for accuracy and complete information. Prepare shipping of documents, lab samples, and customer samples as needed. Research quality issues and complaints, maintain organized files for data retrieval. Ability to learn the basics of the Micro Lab. Capability to read & understand COA’s. Participate in Food Safety, Safety, and other committees to represent all QA & Food Safety perspectives. Enforcement of all Twin City Foods rules and policies. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications/Certifications/Experience Required:
Working knowledge of quality standards, production methods, food processing and USDA grading standards, inspections, and audits. Ability to learn QA Lab procedures & protocols.
Must have good verbal and communication skills. Ability to read, analyze and interpret data with great attention to detail. Ability to present information and respond to questions. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word/Excel/Power Point, ability to create documents. Ability to learn new software programs. Ability to deal with and respond effectively to employee GMP and documentation violations. Experience in food processing, quality control or food safety. Must be able to speak, read, and write English fluently. PCQI (Preventive Controls for Human Food) Certificate (can be obtained after hiring). HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) Certificate (can be obtained after hiring). BRC experience a plus. Must have a valid driver’s license and be eligible for vehicle insurance coverage.
Supervisory Responsibility:
This position does not have supervisory duties.

Thorough knowledge of HACCP principles, food processing GMPs, and FSMA Food Safety Plan/Preventative Control requirements. Safety and Security – observes and promotes safety and security procedures. Determines appropriate action beyond guidelines. Overtime and Weekend Work – flexibility with schedule during harvesting season or as needed.
Essential Physical Abilities:
Ability to sit at an office desk with sufficient vision and physical dexterity to use PC desk top system for up to eight hours. Ability to use standard functions of office equipment (PC, calculator, fax, printer, scanner, copier, smart phone, etc.). Ability to lift and handle objects weighing up to 40 pounds for use in day to day job functions. Sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes which permits the employee to have access to various work sites throughout the facilities. Able to climb/squat/etc. to inspect equipment. Ability to travel to other TCF company locations or industry events to conduct and participate in on-site meetings. May require overnight travel. Exposure to plant environment conditions– chemicals, wet, slippery, hot, cold, noisy, etc.
