Job Summary:

We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Quality Control Inspector to join our team in the shipbuilding industry. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in reading Navy shipbuilding blueprints/drawings, proficient skills in using measuring and testing equipment, and a keen eye for attention to detail. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the quality and compliance of shipbuilding processes and products.

Key Responsibilities:

Read and interpret Navy shipbuilding blueprints/drawings to understand specifications, tolerances, and quality requirements.
Perform inspections and quality checks on shipbuilding components, structures, and systems at various stages of production to verify compliance with standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements.
Utilize measuring and testing equipment, such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision instruments, to accurately assess dimensions, tolerances, and surface qualities of shipbuilding materials and components.
Conduct visual inspections to identify defects, discrepancies, or non-conformities in shipbuilding processes or finished products.
Document inspection results, generate comprehensive reports, and maintain accurate records of inspections, test results, and any non-conformances identified.
Collaborate with production teams, engineers, and other stakeholders to address quality issues, suggest corrective actions, and ensure timely resolution of discrepancies.
Participate in internal and external audits, inspections, and quality improvement initiatives.
Adhere to established quality control procedures, standards, and safety protocols.
Stay up to date with industry trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements related to shipbuilding quality control.

Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent.
Proven experience in reading Navy shipbuilding blueprints/drawings and interpreting specifications and requirements.
Strong knowledge of shipbuilding processes, materials, and construction techniques.
Proficiency in using measuring and testing equipment, including calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision instruments.
Exceptional attention to detail and ability to identify and document defects or non-conformities.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively communicate inspection findings and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
Familiarity with quality control standards, procedures, and methodologies.
Preferred certification from the American Society for Quality (ASQ) as a Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) or Certified Quality Technician (CQT).
Prior experience in the shipbuilding industry or a related field is highly desirable.
Previous Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) experience is a plus.
