Job Summary:
Associates who are Quality Lab Technicians will perform daily tasks involving Quality Control for production at Nifco, as well as aid in the development of a part maturity. Every day the technician will be involved in performing quantitative measurements, using the devices and instruments in the Nifco Lab as well as skills and experiences provided by others to help determine Part, assembly, or material compliance within the Nifco Quality Standards

There will be four essential levels of advancement through the Lab Metrology Technician position.
Entry Level: New Hires, with little to no experience in Metrology or Nifco Systems. This level of technician is in ‘apprenticeship’
Level 1: This technician has demonstrated the ability to perform all Level I functions, and shows understanding of the different concepts as laid out in the ‘Lab Technician Job Matrix’. This level of tech will be introduced into a training plan, which will further the advancement of that individual, as well as prepare them to act in supporting roles of the Special Lab Technician roles.
Level 2: This technician has demonstrated the ability to perform all Level II functions, and shows understanding of the different concepts as laid out in the ‘Lab Technician Job Matrix’. This level of tech will have met the goals described in their individual training plan, and will continue to use that plan in an effort to further the advancement of that individual, as well as prepare them to act in supporting roles of the Special Lab Technician roles.
Level 3: This technician has demonstrated the ability to perform all Level III functions, and shows understanding of the different concepts as laid out in the ‘Lab Technician Job Matrix’. This level of tech will have met the goals described in their individual training plan.

Essential Functions:

The Essential functions for any lab technician are specifically outlined in the ‘Lab Technician Job Matrix’, with specific training requirements outlined for each individual tech. This training plan will also include requirements to be cross-trained in the select special lab technician training areas.
Individuals will also be required to assist in maintaining the Lab Cleanliness and Organization. These will be essential 2S functions for the lab.

Education:

High school diploma or GED

Experience/Skills:

Familiar with TS-16949 Quality System requirements
Experience performing dimensional measurements on a CMM, optical comparator, etc.
Must know how to use various handheld gages.
Must be able to read, understand and interpret blue prints.
Need to be able to work in both the English and metric system of measurement.
General understanding of GD&T.
Experience understanding and interpreting inspection reports, force tests, Gage R&R’s, CPK data and environmental test results.
Understanding of how to interpret and perform testing specifications of customers.
Experience in common business software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, etc
Team oriented.
