Monday thru Friday: 7:30am to 4:00pm

Position Objective

The Quality Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the highest standards of quality and compliance are met in Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI) and Utilization Management (UM). This includes the day-to-day operations of CDI, UM, HAC (Hospital Acquired Conditions), payer denials and Diagnosis Related Groups (DRG). The Quality Supervisor will understand and analyze observation statistics, case mix index, Medicare, and other payer coverages and be able to share applicable reports with Administration, HIM, and Finance. The Quality Supervisor will be instrumental in the implementation and training of Solventum 360 CDI & Coding Software. This position will lead a team dedicated to continuous improvement, quality, and accountability. The Quality Supervisor will work closely with the Director of Quality and Risk Management and UM/CDI Physician Advisor.

Essential Responsibilities

Leadership

Supervise CDI/UM Staff
Promote a culture of safety and strong communication for patients and employees
Demonstrate excellent customer service through attitude and actions, consistent with the standards contained in the Mission, Vision, and Values of the organization
Participate with the Director in staff meetings, employee engagement, and meeting overall goals of the department
Work closely with the UM/CDI Physician Advisor

Quality Delivery

Day-to-day operations of Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI)
Day-to-day operations of Utilization Management (UM)
Oversight of HAC (Hospital Acquired Conditions) Reviews
Write Payer appeals to insurance companies for Diagnosis Related Groups (DRG)
Analyze and report observation statistics case mix index (CMI)
Implement and train the CDI and Coding Software Solventum
Create, implement, and revise policies and procedures specific to CDI and UM
Participate in competency and certification processes as appropriate and needed

Other Responsibilities

Perform all other related duties as assigned in a professional and responsive manner
Demonstrate the ability to use relevant equipment
Ability to meet the work schedule requirements with flexibility dependent upon the needs of the department

Required Qualifications

RN experience in CDI/UM and/or Quality with preference given to Quality Management
Associate’s Degree in Nursing, Business, Health Administration or related Field
Ability to work closely with Physicians, Physician Advisors, Administration, and Finance
Ability to speak with patients and families on Quality and Risk-related topics

Preferred Qualifications

Supervisory experience
Have attended ACDIS CDI Bootcamp and/or Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist (CCDS)
Knowledge in 3M Solventum Software
Knowledge of EPIC EMR
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, Business, Health Administration or related Field
Working knowledge of Infection Control

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Skilled in Microsoft Office and general computer knowledge
Ability to analyze metrics and identify trends in quality assurance
Effective communication skills
Ability to problem solve complex issues regarding accepted standards and precedents
