Position Summary and Purpose: The Quality Assurance Supervisor plays a pivotal role in day-to-day QA operations by ensuring the quality, integrity, and consistency of all incoming raw materials and finished products. As a working supervisor, this role has supervisory responsibilities for multiple QA Technicians and Leads as well as a responsibility to perform QA duties as needed. This position will report to the QA Manager.

Essential Functions:

Oversee day-to-day operations of the QA department, guiding, delegating, and verifying work.
Lead the training, performance management and development of employees within the QA department.
Monitor and update existing HACCP, SOP, and QA programs, procedures, and document control programs.
Support the review, verification, and validation of BRC requirements.
Prepare product and process quality reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
Verify all flavors to ensure BRC standards and customer specifications are met.
Ensure that food safety and quality requirements for processing raw material into finished flavors conform to quality standards.
Communicate on-hold and non-conforming products to QA Manager.
Assist QA Manager in investigation of QA/QC-related customer complaints.
Perform GMP inspections and communicate any corrective actions with the Operations team.
Organize and retrieve necessary physical and digital documents upon request.
Ensure all incoming raw materials and finished products meet company standards, performing corrective or preventative actions when necessary.
Ensure all inspections are documented and product samples are logged into QC sample inventory system.
Maintain work area compliance with relevant quality management systems (calibrations, certifications, etc.) through recordkeeping.
Ensure samples are prepared for shipment to testing facilities.
Ensure organization and maintenance of reserve sample storage.
Collaborate with employees in Shipping & Receiving, R&D, Operations, and Quality functions to improve capability and process efficiency.
Assist QA Manager in performing any special assessments, audits, continuous improvement projects, and any other related tasks that fall under the broad category of QA functions.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and applicable standard operating procedures.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, bend, as well as talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Must be able to regularly use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, and climb stairs. The position requires the ability to occasionally lift, push, or pull office and lab products and supplies, up to 50 pounds. Must be capable of wearing a respirator.

Working conditions:

The position works in a lab and warehouse setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets, and standard lab equipment such as printers, allergen testing kits, pipettes, scales, and meters. The noise level in the work environment may frequently be loud.

Travel:

Local travel to multiple worksites during the business day is required.

Position Type / Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position. The QA Supervisor standard workday is 8:00am-06:30pm, Monday through Thursday.

Required Education and Experience:

Associate degree required
3+ years of experience in Quality Assurance in the food, flavor, or ingredients industry
1+ year of QA supervisory experience

Preferred Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Food Science or related field
HACCP Certified
GFSI familiarity or certification
Knowledge of food safety programs and practices
Experience in Quality Assurance in the food, flavor, or ingredients manufacturing environment strongly preferred
