Quality Assurance Supervisor (MUST Be Lead or Internal Auditor)

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Quality Assurance Lead Internal Auditor/Supervisor ensures that all products meet required quality standards through rigorous quality control, laboratory testing, and regulatory compliance. With a strong chemistry and materials science background, this role also contributes to experimental research, new product development, and process improvement. The Lead/Internal Audit Supervisor manages QA and lab teams, ensures conformance to standards such as AS9100 and supports R&D activities including conducting experiments and testing prototype materials.

IMPORTANT MUST-HAVES (Read Before Applying):

  • Direct, functional experience running an AS9100 Quality Management System
  • Not just participation – you have acted as an internal auditor or lead auditor.
  • You have managed, co-managed, or overseen a certified quality system.
  • You understand how the system operates end-to-end, not just how to respond to audit findings.
  • Experience leading or conducting internal audits
  • You have planned audits, executed them, documented findings, and implemented corrective actions.
  • You are someone who can manage AS processes from day one.
  • If you have only “been audited” but have never carried out audits or maintained a quality system, you will not be a match for this position.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Quality Assurance & Lab Oversight
  • Lead/supervise internal audits, support external audits, and ensure readiness for annual certification.
  • Supervise QA technicians and laboratory staff; provide technical guidance, training, and daily direction.
  • Run and maintain the AS9100 system, including documentation, audit schedules, and compliance controls.
  • Oversee laboratory testing of raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods using chemical and physical test methods.
  • Manage calibration systems for lab and production testing equipment.
  • Lead root cause analysis for quality issues and implement effective CAPA.
  • Maintain accurate QA records for audits and full traceability.
  • Support production by reviewing machine setups and verifying process parameters.
  • Promote a safe and organized laboratory environment.
  • Research & Development Support
  • Partner with R&D teams on new product development and process optimization.
  • Prepare samples, operate experimental equipment, and analyze data for accuracy.
  • Maintain detailed experiment documentation and report findings.
  • Assist with pilot runs, technical evaluations, and experimental trials.
  • Develop technical reports and performance data.
  • Maintain R&D equipment and assist with repairs or modifications.
  • Contribute to cross-functional technical problem-solving.

MUST HAVE QUALIFICATIONS, REQUIREMENTS:

  • AA/BS degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Engineering, or related applied science.
  • 3+ years in Quality Assurance or R&D within manufacturing or chemical processes (composites or plastics preferred).Experience as an Auditor (Internal or Lead).
  • Strong, functional experience running AS9100 systems (non-negotiable).
  • Skilled with laboratory test methods, chemical testing, and material evaluation.
  • Knowledge of standard lab equipment and instrumentation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; ERP experience preferred (Dynamics/Navision).
  • Proven team leadership, cross-department communication, and problem-solving ability.
  • Strong documentation and presentation skills.

PREFERRED:

  • Background in polymer science, composites, or aerospace manufacturing.
  • Experience interfacing with customers for technical evaluations or complaint resolution.
  • Familiarity with DOE, data analysis, and prototype testing.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time while working on a computer or conducting meetings.
  • Ability to use manual dexterity for keyboarding, writing, and operating office equipment such as phones, printers, and copiers.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person, over the phone, and through written correspondence.
  • Ability to stand and walk, as well as push, pull, squat, bend, stoop and reach.
  • Ability to push/ pull and lift/carry up to 50 pounds.

7:00 AM – 3:30 PM; Monday – Friday
