At Fintex Inc., we're not just another fintech company—we're a crew of battle-tested entrepreneurs on a mission to completely reimagine wealth management. Our founding team has built and shipped game-changing digital products at Canada's leading financial institutions. Now we're taking everything we've learned and building something bolder, faster, and entirely our own.
We're growing at an exponential rate, and this is your chance to get in early and leave your fingerprints on the quality bar for products that will define the next generation of wealth management.
The Opportunity
This isn't a typical QA role where you're rubber-stamping releases at a mature company. As a QA Lead at Fintex, you'll be a founding member of our engineering organization—building our testing culture and automation infrastructure from the ground up and owning the quality outcomes that directly impact our trajectory.
You'll operate at the intersection of engineering rigor, product craft, and customer trust—ensuring the sophisticated financial tools our advisors and clients depend on actually work, every time. This is high-impact, high-visibility work where you'll see the direct results of your decisions in days, not sprints.
The wealth management industry is ripe for disruption, and we're moving fast—but fast can't mean fragile. You'll need to be part architect, part detective, part coach—someone who thrives in ambiguity and gets energized by the challenge of building bulletproof systems out of a moving target, while also being the person advisors and clients trust when something goes wrong.
What You'll Own
- Drive test automation strategy and execution for groundbreaking digital products in the wealth and asset management space—from framework design to release sign-off
- Be the voice of quality and the customer, synthesizing insights from bugs, edge cases, customer-reported issues, and production incidents to identify high-leverage risk areas
- Transform fragile, manual processes into clarity, working hand-in-hand with engineers to build Selenium and Playwright suites that catch problems before customers do
- Champion the use of AI-powered testing tools and techniques—self-healing locators, AI-assisted test generation, intelligent test prioritization, and anomaly detection—to boost automation coverage and speed without ballooning headcount
- Own quality-related customer relationships, working directly with key advisors and clients to understand pain points, validate fixes, and rebuild trust after incidents
- Partner with Customer Success and Support to triage escalations, distinguish real defects from usage issues, and close the loop with customers on resolution
- Bring a banking and wealth management lens to test planning—understanding portfolio management, trading, compliance, and reporting workflows well enough to anticipate where the highest-risk bugs will hide
- Ship relentlessly alongside our engineering team, making smart trade-offs between coverage and velocity without sacrificing reliability
- Wear multiple hats (because startup life)—you might be writing automated test scripts one day, jumping on a call with a frustrated client the next, and evaluating a new AI testing tool the day after that
What You Bring
- Deep test automation DNA—you've lived and breathed Selenium and Playwright and understand their strengths, quirks, and when to reach for each
- Genuine curiosity about AI in QA—you've experimented with or implemented AI-driven testing approaches (test generation, self-healing scripts, smart test selection) and know where the hype ends and the real efficiency gains begin
- Fluency in engineering practices—you can discuss CI/CD pipelines, test architecture, and release strategy as naturally as you discuss test cases
- A builder's mindset—you see quality as a competitive advantage, not a checkbox, and get genuinely excited about how smart automation and tooling can solve real problems
- Strong customer-facing instincts—you're comfortable talking directly to clients and advisors, translating their frustrations into concrete engineering priorities, and communicating fixes back in plain language
- Hands-on QA leadership chops—you've actually led a QA team, built a framework from scratch, or worked closely enough with those who do to understand the craft
- Elite communication skills—you can rally cross-functional teams, manage up to executives, extract requirements from stakeholders, and explain technical risk to customers and non-technical audiences with equal ease
- Startup resilience—you thrive in fast-moving, resource-constrained environments where adaptability and scrappiness are features, not bugs
- 5+ years in QA with hands-on Selenium and Playwright experience; prior lead or senior experience strongly preferred
Nice to Have
- Banking or wealth management industry experience—you understand regulatory requirements, financial products, and the unique risk profile of fintech applications
- Experience with AI/ML-powered test automation platforms (e.g., Testim, Mabl, Applitools, or similar)
- Familiarity with financial data integrity and reconciliation testing
- Experience with performance and security testing in regulated environments
Why Now? Why Fintex?
The wealth management industry is undergoing its biggest transformation in decades. Advisors are drowning in complexity while clients demand digital-first experiences—and none of it matters if the product breaks or trust erodes. We're building the platform that solves both problems—and we're doing it at breakneck speed, using AI to punch above our weight on quality without cutting corners.
This is your chance to build a testing culture from scratch, shape engineering standards, and potentially turn this role into a Head of QA or Director of Engineering position as we scale. Early team members at high-growth startups don't just build products—they build careers.
Ready to move fast and build the future of wealth management—without breaking it, and without breaking trust? Let's talk.
