The Quality Control Technical Support plays a crucial role in ensuring smooth and efficient workflows by managing the job completion process for our HVACR technicians. This position directly supports field operations by handling technician checkouts, verifying job details, and ensuring accurate data entry, which enables other departments to operate efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
Technician Support: Serve as the primary point of contact for field technicians as they complete jobs, ensuring all necessary information is accurately reported before checkout. Work with technicians and any office staff to improve their technical skills, troubleshooting abilities, and familiarity with company processes. Act as a mentor for new technicians and other team members to help them adapt to the role.
Data Accuracy & Documentation: Verify Ventus Mobile, billing comments, service details, materials used, parts ordering, time on site, Customer Portal usage, and all data and platforms used, ensuring all job data is recorded correctly and follow-up as required. Record checkout data in the metrics database to enable ongoing analysis and optimization of the checkout process.
Workflow Coordination: Communicate job status updates to dispatchers, service managers, and other relevant teams to maintain seamless operations.
Issue Resolution: Identify discrepancies in job details and proactively work with technicians to correct errors before finalizing work orders.
Compliance & Quality Control: Ensure all required documentation, customer approvals, and compliance standards are met before closing out a job.
Quality Review: Analyze technician pictures and point out deficiencies and opportunities for improvement.
Performance Metrics: Access Checkout, PowerBI and other data sources used to assist in tracking, measuring and interpreting data to technicians, management and entire corporate team. Understand key performance indicators that team will use to measure efficiency, improve technician accuracy, performance, and understand all data that will be used to improve quality.
Process Optimization: Continuously assess and improve checkout procedures to enhance efficiency and reduce bottlenecks in the job completion process.
Continuous Improvement: Additional assignments as new priorities and opportunities for improvement are identified throughout the operational process.
Audit and Feedback: Audit completed work orders for accuracy and must provide feedback to technicians to improve data entry and reporting practices. Prepare to give and receive feedback on the accuracy of your own work and other.
Mechanical Responsibilities:
Refrigerant Monitoring & Leak Identification: Track liquid levels and refrigerant trends using Power BI to identify high-usage sites. Analyze data to pinpoint leaks, reduce refrigerant costs, and improve system efficiency.
Alarm Management & Cost Reduction: Investigate high-spend locations by analyzing service reports, reducing unnecessary service calls, and improving overall customer satisfaction.
Technical Support & Troubleshooting: Provide real-time technical support to field technicians, guiding them through troubleshooting processes and offering quick, effective solutions while promoting skill development. Providing product materials and technical resources to further develop the technical knowledge of employees.
Daily Reporting & Issue Documentation: Record and report identified issues daily to improve call volume tracking, streamline repairs, and enhance overall store conditions.
Data Analysis & Trend Identification: Evaluate key performance metrics, including the top 10 locations for call volume, high spend, and refrigerant usage, to identify opportunities for operational improvements.
Remote Field Support: Assist technicians remotely with complex service calls, ensuring first-time fix rates improve and reducing unnecessary site visits.
Backlog Priority Coding: Utilize technical expertise to assess and assign priority codes to work orders based on company guidelines, ensuring efficient resource allocation.
Equipment Downtime Reduction: Analyze high-priority backlog issues in PowerBI, particularly “Equipment Down” cases, to develop solutions that minimize downtime and enhance customer visibility. Assist during emergency situations, such as major equipment failures, to coordinate resources and ensure a swift resolution.
Not To Exceed (NTE) Tracking & Adjustment: Monitor NTE increases in real time, ensuring all corrections and requests are processed immediately to prevent delays.
Cost Impact Analysis: Evaluate the financial impact of NTE increases on the company, identifying trends and opportunities to optimize cost efficiency.
Parts Procurement Solutions: Analyze and source essential parts to minimize downtime, optimize acquisition, and develop truck stock lists
Complex Job Quoting: Assist in preparing accurate quotes for complex jobs and special projects that require technical expertise, ensuring competitive and precise pricing.
Strong attention to detail and ability to ensure data accuracy.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Experience in HVACR, and mechanical contracting is required.
Strong typing and computer skills, with a focus on speed and accuracy
Comfortable learning and adapting to new software systems
Open to constructive feedback and committed to continuous improvement.
Proficient in remotely accessing refrigeration control systems such as Emerson, Danfoss, and others.
Skilled in performing common refrigeration repairs, including compressor and case controller replacement, evaporator servicing, and effectively navigating manufacturer support lines.
Proficient in common HVACR/R bidding and estimating processes.
Work Environment & Schedule
Standard work schedule: Monday Friday, 8:00 AM 5:00 PM or 9:00 AM 6:00 PM.
Work hour flexibility is required, with start and end times adjusting by up to 2 hours based on the scheduling calendar. Coverage is especially needed during peak hours of operation, primarily from 4:00 PM 6:30 PM, to support end-of-day wrap-up.
This role requires the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
