Position Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Quality Control Manager to lead and establish a quality department at our company, a small yet dynamic ESOP manufacturing business specializing in the design and manufacture of high-precision mechanical and pneumatic rescue tools for the emergency services industry. As the Quality Control Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the highest standards of quality across all processes while fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
This is a hands-on position where you will oversee a small team and collaborate closely with key stakeholders throughout our organization, including the CEO, Chief Engineer, and Director of Operations. The role requires a blend of technical expertise, leadership skills, collaboration skills, and a passion for maintaining and enhancing quality standards in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Paratech is certified to ISO 9001:2015 and has a robust quality system in place.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Management System Leadership:
Oversee and maintain compliance with the ISO 9001:2015 quality system, ensuring ongoing adherence and continuous improvement.
Conduct internal audits and manage external audits, driving corrective actions as needed.
Schedule and conduct Management Review meetings, analyze each departments data, assign action items to address quality trends, draft and post minutes,
Manage and execute the company tooling and gauge calibration process.
Maintain all company quality documents, procedures, and forms including. Make changes where and when improvement is needed.
Department Setup & Management:
Establish and lead the newly formed quality department, including staffing, training, and managing quality team members.
Continuous development of inspection plans, methods, gauges, equipment, etc.
Update, develop and implement procedures and policies to uphold robust quality standards.
Process Oversight & Improvement:
Monitor all manufacturing processes to ensure the manufacturing team’s adherence to existing quality control procedures at every stage of manufacturing.
Identify and implement opportunities for improvement.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address quality issues and implement effective solutions.
Software Proficiency:
Utilize relevant software platforms for data analysis, documentation, and reporting to support quality objectives.
Drive automation and digital tools to improve efficiency and reduce errors in quality management.
Experience with Calibration Recall software a plus.
Candidate should have working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
Collaboration & Reporting:
Work closely with the CEO, Chief Engineer, and Director of Operations to align quality goals with business objectives.
Organizationally you will report directly to the CEO, functionally to the Director of Operations and the Chief Engineer.
Provide regular reports and updates on quality metrics, trends, and initiatives.
Systems and Processes
Research, investigate, and test new methods, technologies, equipment, and systems in the fields of Quality, Inspection, and Manufacturing to improve levels of effectiveness in manufacturing, inspection, and testing.
Review and improve the Quality Management System to meet or exceed customer and certification standards.
Develop written policies, procedures, and work instructions to guide the department and company in achieving superior levels of quality and performance in all areas.
Utilize Quality tools to identify variations in processes and provide recommendations for reducing or eliminating them.
Ensure calibration of gauges and tools.
Collect, analyze, and report relevant manufacturing quality & engineering data.
Manage and maintain compliance to approved certifications and registrations (ISO9001) standards through periodic and documented audits conducted by qualified personnel.
Measure and report supplier quality performance issues, nonconformances, and/or corrective actions to suppliers as required.
Maintain confidentiality of work-related information and materials.
Lead and inspire a company culture of employee safety and well-being. Demonstrate a strong commitment to all safety policies and regulations.
Assess, staff, and performance-manage Quality department to maximize utilization of talents, generate adaptability, and minimize cost of poor quality.
Conduct periodic written performance reviews and appraisals of Quality personnel. Review and approve employee weekly payroll and PTO requests.
Resolve customer quality concerns and complete corrective and preventive actions internal stakeholders.
Manage and approve customer returned material (RMAs).
Perform analysis to identify performance trends and assist with root cause analysis.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Management, or a related field.
Proven experience in quality management within a manufacturing environment.
Strong knowledge, hands-on experience and certification in ISO 9001:2015 standards.
Proficiency in using quality management and analysis software platforms.
Familiarity with additional quality methodologies.
Exceptional leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to manage a small team effectively.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
Comfortability being on the floor and being hands on.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels
Oversee the lab (CMM programming experience with MCOSMOS is preferred).
10+ year progressive career experience in Quality Control and Quality Assurance.

Strong track record maintaining credible, long-term relationships with internal and external stakeholders, vendors, customers, strategic partners, and regulatory bodies
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in the emergency services industry or high-precision manufacturing.
Hands-on expertise in implementing and optimizing quality processes in small to medium-sized companies.
Certification in other quality methodologies
