Title: Quality Assurance Engineer

Company: Breinrock

Location: Limassol Municipality, Limassol, Cyprus

Company Description

Breinrock is a global premium fintech brand offering a portfolio of innovative payment solutions for corporate and individual clients. The company delivers a full range of neo-banking services, including dedicated corporate IBANs, local and international payments, multicurrency accounts, built-in foreign exchange, and prepaid cards. Breinrock focuses on understanding evolving client needs in a fast-moving financial landscape and tailoring custom solutions to match those requirements. The team is committed to excellence, superior service, and long-term client partnerships, creating a dynamic environment for professionals who want to grow in fintech.

General Responsibilities

Communicate clearly and proactively with teammates, product, and stakeholders — raising risks, blockers, unclear requirements, and quality concerns early

Work closely with cross-functional teams including frontend, backend, and DevOps to validate features end-to-end across environments and ensure release readiness

Create, maintain, and execute test scenarios for new features, regressions, edge cases, and bug fixes, with clear documentation of coverage and results

Identify, document, and track defects with clear reproduction steps, expected vs actual behaviour, supporting evidence, and business impact

Participate actively in requirement reviews and team discussions — challenging ambiguous logic, spotting missing cases, and helping prevent issues before implementation reaches QA

Troubleshoot and investigate issues across development, staging, and production environments, contributing to root cause analysis and overall quality improvement

Technical Requirements

Must Have:

5+ years of professional QA experience, with at least 3 years in manual and API testing within production environments

Strong understanding of software QA fundamentals — test planning, test case design, regression testing, exploratory testing, and defect lifecycle management

Hands-on experience testing web applications, admin panels, and complex business flows in production-like environments

Strong practical experience with API testing tools such as Postman, Swagger, or similar — request validation, authentication flows, response structure verification, and error scenario coverage

Ability to validate backend/frontend integration through API and UI testing, with clear understanding of request/response behaviour and data consistency across systems

Experience writing clear, structured, and traceable test cases, test scenarios, and bug reports with enough detail for developers to reproduce issues efficiently

Experience testing real-time systems or asynchronous flows — WebSockets, Server-Sent Events, queues, delayed jobs, notifications, or event-driven behaviour

Understanding of microservices-based systems — cross-service flows, integration points, failure scenarios, and end-to-end validation across distributed components

Practical experience with browser debugging tools, network inspection, and log analysis for identifying issues across frontend and backend layers

Strong understanding of HTTP — methods, headers, status codes, authentication, sessions, cookies, and common integration issues

Experience with test management and defect tracking tools such as Jira, TestRail, Zephyr, or similar

Ability to execute structured regression testing before releases and clearly communicate release risk, test coverage, and open issues

Strong communication and ownership mindset — able to challenge unclear requirements, identify edge cases early, and proactively prevent defects rather than only report them

Advantage to have

Experience with automated testing tools or frameworks such as Playwright, Selenium, or similar

Experience with performance and load testing tools such as JMeter, k6, or Gatling

Familiarity with Kafka or other event streaming systems from a QA perspective — validating producers/consumers, message flow, retries, and delivery expectations

Experience testing caching mechanisms, background jobs, cron-based workflows, and distributed systems behaviour

Fintech, or any high-availability transactional domain

Understanding of security-focused testing concepts — authentication, authorisation, input validation, XSS, CSRF, and common web vulnerabilities

Experience validating analytics, reporting, exports, dashboards, and large dataset behaviour in backoffice systems

Experience with zero-downtime releases, production smoke testing, and post-release verification practices

This role will report to head of Happines department and will be based onsite in our Cyprus, Limassol office.
