We are expanding our engineering team and looking for a QA Engineer who takes full ownership of quality – from exploratory and manual verification through to building and maintaining automated test suites.

About the role
As a QA Engineer at AirportLabs, you are expected to cover the full quality spectrum, from exploratory and manual testing through to building and maintaining automated test suites. You’ll work across product streams alongside developers and product managers to catch issues early and maintain a high-quality bar for products used by international airports worldwide.
Responsibilities
- Own quality end-to-end across assigned product streams, from requirements review and test design through to execution and sign-off
- Perform exploratory, functional, and regression testing manually, using your domain knowledge to identify edge cases
- Design, build, and maintain automated test suites covering smoke, integration, and regression scenarios
- Perform API testing using Postman or equivalent tools
- Plan and execute load testing where applicable
- Document test coverage thoroughly; identify, record, and track defects, bugs, and errors with clarity and precision
- Contribute to and follow the agreed testing process; flag gaps or improvements proactively
- Share knowledge with the team by running informal demos or training sessions when you’ve learned something worth spreading
What we’re looking for
- Minimum 3 years of experience in QA, with a mix of manual and automation work
- Hands-on experience with a modern end-to-end automation framework – Cypress or Playwright
- Solid understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript – enough to write and debug test code confidently
- Experience with API testing tools such as Postman
- Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and where QA fits within it
- Ability to write clear, maintainable test suites and diagnose failures independently
- Excellent communication skills in both English and Romanian, written and verbal
- Strong self-management – you can prioritise your own workload without being micromanaged
Nice to have
- Advanced ISTQB knowledge
- Experience in aviation or safety-critical software
- CI/CD pipeline integration for automated tests
Recruitment process
We will use a two-step process for the recruitment of this role:
- You will have to complete an automation test. This will be over email, and you will be expected to respond within 5 business days (no extensions will be granted).
- A final interview with the candidates who have been selected based on the results from the assignment phase.
