Summary: The Quality Assurance (QA) Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing a risk-based Business Management System (BMS) to ensure compliance with customer, regulatory, and business requirements. This role is not just about compliance—it is a leadership role that ensures enterprise-wide process assurance, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement.
The QA Manager works closely with Production, Engineering, Project Management, Supply Chain, and other business functions to embed quality principles throughout the organization. This role drives quality strategy, ensures data-driven decision-making, and fosters a culture of proactive defect prevention to enhance customer satisfaction, operational efficiency, and business performance.
Responsibilities:
Quality System Leadership & Compliance
Develop, implement, and maintain a risk-based Business Management System (BMS) aligned with ISO 9001:2015, customer expectations, and business objectives.
Ensure quality oversight extends beyond manufacturing, integrating estimating, project management, engineering, supply chain, and other business functions into the enterprise-wide management system.
Oversee internal quality and process audits, ensuring adherence to industry regulations and company standards across all business areas.
Champion a risk-based approach to quality management, ensuring proactive identification and mitigation of process risks impacting product and service quality.
Process Assurance & Continuous Improvement
Lead the development of quality standards, policies, and procedures, ensuring alignment across all business functions, not just manufacturing.
Analyze quality data and trends, driving Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) to improve process reliability and reduce defects.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive systemic process improvements that enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and improve overall product reliability (aligned with LEAN and Six Sigma principles).
Drive operational quality improvement initiatives, ensuring business processes are structured, repeatable, and continuously optimized.
Enterprise-Wide Quality Integration
Assess and support non-manufacturing departments (e.g., estimating, procurement, engineering) to ensure their processes align with enterprise quality expectations and ISO 9001:2015 standards.
Establish and track key quality performance indicators (KPIs) (e.g., escapes, defect rates, cost of poor quality, process capability indices) to drive data-driven continuous improvement and strategic decision-making.
Work closely with leadership and department heads to ensure quality expectations are embedded into daily operations, performance measures, and strategic goals.
Training, Culture, & Business Alignment
Champion a culture of quality ownership at all levels, providing training and mentorship to quality personnel, operations, and business leaders on quality processes and best practices.
Collaborate with leadership to align quality objectives with business goals, focusing on customer satisfaction, compliance, and operational excellence.
Act as a key advocate for quality within the organization, ensuring executive and operational teams understand and support quality initiatives.

Qualifications
Required Knowledge/Experience:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Experience: Minimum 5+ years in quality assurance within a manufacturing environment.
Knowledge of ISO 9001, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, and other quality management systems.
Experience leading audits, CAPA processes, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Strong understanding of statistical process control (SPC), root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
Familiarity with regulatory compliance and industry-specific quality standards.
Required Skill/Abilities:

Effective communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while maintaining attention to detail.

Supervisory Requirements
Directly supervises quality assurance team members, providing guidance, performance evaluations, and professional development opportunities.
Collaborates with production and engineering leadership to ensure alignment on quality goals.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
FLSA executive and professional positions paid on a salary basis, where project requirements and tight client deadlines may require workweeks over forty (40) hours (including weekends or holidays)
This role will work in an office setting, however frequent visits to the production floor are required to oversee operations, ensure compliance and safety standards and engage in staff. Exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, and manufacturing equipment, requiring the use of PPE as necessary.
Mobility: Ability to move around the manufacturing plant, including walking, standing, and climbing stairs.
Manual Dexterity: Occasional use of hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.
Lifting: Ability to lift and carry items up to twenty-five (25) pounds. All lifting should be done following OSHA standards.
Visual and Auditory Requirements: Must be able to see and hear well enough to navigate the plant safely and communicate effectively with team members.
Protective Equipment: Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required, including safety glasses, ear protection, and steel-toed boots.
