Job Description
The Inspector I is responsible for maintaining quality standards by conducting first piece, in-process, and final product inspection; including recording inspection and measurement results recording.
Essential Job Functions
- Utilize hand tools, measuring, and inspection equipment such as snap and height gauges, calipers, go/no go devices, etc.
- Inspect and measure first piece, in-process, and final product as specified per process sheets, work instructions, production travelers, and/or training.
- Ensure documented specifications are met; communicating nonconformities and/or suspect product to Quality and/or Production Supervisor.
- Document inspection and measurement results by accurately completing; handwritten and computer-data-entered inspection reports and logs.
- Notify Quality and Production Supervisors when jobs are running at a high scrap rate.
- Adhere to the requirements of RPP’s Quality Management System.
- May be required to work in other functional areas to meet business needs.
- Keep work area clean and organized; store tools, measuring and inspection devices, parts, paperwork etc. in specified locations.
- Comply with corporate and site policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school graduate or GED.
- Manufacturing inspection experience preferred.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- Basic math skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division.
- Must read, write, and speak English.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods.
- Ability to work in varying environmental conditions such as heat, cold, noise, etc.
- Effectively prioritize tasks.
- Work individually to support team and department success.
- Strong organization skills with ability to multitask.
- Lift, pull or push up to 35 lbs.
- Available to and capable of working overtime, based on business needs.
- Work around chemicals, complying with appropriate SDS (e.g., alcohol, acidsand bases).
- Ability to differentiate between colors.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
Safety:
- Must report any safety concerns to your supervisor.
- Must report any hygiene concerns to your supervisor.
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn, including but not limited tosafety glasses/goggles, earplugs, and safety shoes.
- Recommends safety improvements to supervisors or committee members.
- Understands all safety policies and procedures.
