About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Quality Assurance Laboratory Manager to lead our Quality Assurance, Quality Control, and Laboratory functions at our manufacturing facility. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring consistent product quality through effective quality management systems, laboratory operations, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
You will work closely with cross-functional teams to strengthen quality performance, optimize laboratory processes, and build a high-performing team that supports operational excellence and business growth.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage Quality Assurance, Quality Control, and Laboratory operations to ensure consistent product quality and compliance with company standards.
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve Quality Management Systems (QMS), policies, procedures, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Ensure all laboratory testing, raw material inspections, in-process controls, and finished product evaluations are conducted accurately and on time.
- Maintain compliance with food safety, quality, and regulatory standards, including GMP, HACCP, FSSC 22000, and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
- Oversee internal and external quality audits, ensuring effective implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Monitor quality performance indicators, analyze laboratory and quality data, and provide actionable recommendations to improve product quality and operational performance.
- Manage laboratory equipment, calibration, testing methods, chemical inventory, and laboratory waste in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with Production, R&D, Procurement, Warehouse, and other cross-functional teams to resolve quality issues and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Lead, coach, and develop the QA, QC, and Laboratory teams to strengthen technical competency, accountability, and high-performance culture.
- Drive continuous improvement projects focused on enhancing product quality, laboratory efficiency, process reliability, and cost effectiveness.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Food Technology, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Pharmacy, Animal Science, Fisheries, Agricultural Technology, or other related fields.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Quality Assurance, Quality Control, and/or Laboratory within the Food & Beverage, Pet Food, Feedmill, Pharmaceutical, or related manufacturing industry.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a supervisory or managerial role leading QA, QC, or Laboratory teams.
- Strong knowledge of Quality Management Systems (QMS), GMP, HACCP, FSSC 22000, ISO 22000, Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), and quality assurance methodologies.
- Hands-on experience in laboratory operations, raw material inspection, in-process quality control, finished product testing, and laboratory equipment management.
- Experience in conducting internal and external audits, root cause analysis, CAPA, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with the ability to interpret laboratory and quality data.
- Excellent leadership, communication, coaching, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and quality documentation systems.
- Willing to work full-time on-site in Palembang, South Sumatra.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of Quality Assurance, Quality Control, and Laboratory Management principles and best practices.
- Solid understanding of Quality Management Systems (QMS), including GMP, HACCP, FSSC 22000, ISO 22000, and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
- Experience in laboratory testing, quality inspection, root cause analysis, and implementing Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with the ability to interpret quality and laboratory data.
- Excellent leadership, coaching, and people management skills with the ability to develop high-performing teams.
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in the Food & Beverage, Pet Food, Feedmill, Pharmaceutical, or related manufacturing industry.
- Experience leading internal and external quality audits and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
- Familiarity with laboratory analytical instruments such as HPLC, GC, AAS, LC-MS, or microbiology laboratory equipment.
- Professional certifications such as HACCP, FSSC 22000, ISO 22000 Internal Auditor, GMP, or GLP are an advantage.
