Quality Technician
MATALCO – Franklin, Kentucky – Here is an opportunity to join a growing company and an impressive group of teammates. Matalco is North America’s largest independent aluminum billet and ingot provider, using recycled aluminum and state-of-the art technology in support of the automotive industry. Our products are in demand, and we seek a talented and driven team member to help us deliver nothing less than the very best quality product. We are seeking candidates for the position of Quality Technician.
What will you do?

Manage the optical emission spectroscopy (OES) lab and is responsible for the facility gage calibration system, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of product quality measurement data.
Support the Quality Management System (QMS) through auditing and documentation development.
Support process improvement through a cross-functional team approach.
Perform routine and non-routine OES Lab analysis through sample preparation and testing to provide regular material analysis to the production team.
Provide technical training to coach and support production team in the use of best practices.
Monitor and trend data using statistical tools to evaluate system performance, proactively identifying and addressing potential failure modes.
Maintain required documentation according to lab work instructions and customer requirements.
Train operators to provide consistent and reliable test results (e.g., OES, spectrometer, facility gaging system, water analysis, etc.).
Perform routine spectrometer inspection, calibration, and maintenance.
Develop and maintain OES testing work instructions and one-point lessons as needed.
Maintain retained samples in accordance with work instructions and customer requirements.
Participate in the implementation and improvement of a quality management system.

Our Qualifications?

A minimum of 3 years quality experience in a manufacturing setting.
Commitment to an incident-free, safe working environment.
Demonstrated ability to work in a cross-functional team environment.
Drive to learn and apply continuous improvement techniques (e.g. Lean and Six Sigma).
Champion change and continuous improvement.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to train and coach others.

Physical Demands?

Occasional lifting of heavy objects (up to 50 lbs.).
Regular office work (computer, phone, filing).
Data entry.
Regular exposure to noise and extreme temperatures while in the plant.
Occasional travel.

When will you work?
Currently this position is MON-FRI days. In the future it could change to a 2-2-3 continental day schedule.
