JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Quality Control Manager to oversee the QC function at our chemical manufacturing facility in Memphis, TN. Reporting directly to senior leadership, the QC Manager will be responsible for supervising all analytical testing operations, managing the QC lab team, and ensuring that raw materials, in-process samples, and finished goods meet quality and safety standards.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in analytical chemistry, hands-on experience with a range of analytical instruments, and the ability to lead a team in a fast-paced, compliance-driven environment. This role requires close collaboration with Production, R&D, Regulatory, and Safety teams to ensure product integrity and continuous process improvement.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Laboratory Operations & Leadership

Lead daily operations of the QC laboratory, ensuring timely and accurate testing of raw materials, intermediates, and finished products.

Supervise, train, and mentor a team of analysts and lab technicians.

Maintain and enforce lab safety procedures and protocols in alignment with EH&S standards.

Analytical Expertise

Oversee analytical testing using a range of instruments such as HPLC, GC, FTIR, UV-Vis, Karl Fischer, titrators, and other wet chemistry techniques.

Troubleshoot instrumentation and analytical challenges; ensure proper calibration and maintenance of equipment.

Compliance & Documentation

Ensure adherence to all internal quality standards, regulatory requirements (such as EPA, OSHA, and local environmental laws), and customer specifications.

Maintain complete, accurate, and audit-ready records; manage Certificates of Analysis (CoAs), MSDS, and other technical documentation.

Quality Systems & Continuous Improvement

Lead investigations into non-conformances, deviations, and out-of-spec results.

Partner with Operations and Technical teams to identify root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs).

Drive continuous improvement initiatives in testing methods, documentation practices, and overall lab efficiency.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Act as the primary point of contact for QC-related matters during audits, inspections, and customer visits.

Collaborate with Production, R&D, and Regulatory Affairs to support new product development, process optimization, and change control processes.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific field required. Advanced degree preferred.

Experience:

Minimum 5 years of experience in Quality Control within a chemical manufacturing or process-based industry.

Proven proficiency with analytical instruments (e.g., HPLC, GC, FTIR) and wet chemistry techniques.

Experience managing or leading QC teams is strongly preferred.

Familiarity with batch and continuous-flow chemical processes is a plus.
