SUMMARY:
This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with Food Safety & Quality (FSQ) requirements at the Bigelow manufacturing site with applicable regulatory requirements, and for upholding the Quality of Bigelow products, ensuring our customers can enjoy our products with full confidence and satisfaction. The FSQ Manager uses HACCP principles to validate and continuously improve the effectiveness of the FSQ programs to meet the requirements of Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) regulations, Safe Quality Food (SQF) standard, Organic and Kosher product certification requirements.
The person in this role is a member of both the plant leadership and the corporate Food Safety & Quality teams.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Food Safety and Quality (FS&Q) leader for the manufacturing sites, ensuring compliance with state and local regulatory requirements.
Collaborates with site and corporate FS&Q team to maintain the Food Safety & Quality Plan.
SQF practitioner/SQF Quality practitioner and point of contact for audits.
Ensures compliance with product-related certifications including Organic and Kosher.
Champions the education and training of personnel on FSQ practices and standards.
Tracks and analyzes food safety and quality metrics.
Leads quality-related incident reporting and resolution activities.
Manages document control for FSQ policies and procedures.
Site point of contact for material qualifications testing.
Leads site Recall team and conducts regular testing of Recall Plan.
Leads site Food Defense team and conducts regular review of plan.
Ability to travel to other plants or business locations as needed.
Other responsibilities as needed by location.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of 3-5 years FS&Q experience with food or beverage or consumer products.
Certifications for HACCP, PCQI, HARPC, and SQF Practitioner.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence others.
Strong administrative and computer skills.
Demonstrated ability to employ quality tools to identify and resolve issues.
Demonstrated Project Management experience.
Self-directed and possesses effective leadership maturity.
EDUCATION
and/or
EXPERIENCE:
B.A. or B.S. in Food Science/relative discipline or equivalent training and experience.
