Just Made Foods is seeking a Quality Assurance Manager. This is an opportunity to join a fast-growing company dedicated to growth and innovation! You will be responsible for document control, QA procedures and practices, maintaining the Food Safety (HACCP & SQF) Programs and ensuring only high quality, safe foods are produced and shipped from this food and beverage manufacturing facility in Houston, TX.
What the QA Manager will do:
Ensure strict adherence of all company employees to facility Food Safety Plan objectives.
Be the primary contact for all QA matters, including pest management, internal and external audits, sanitation, food defense, food fraud, lot code traceability and testing, HACCP reviews and updates, calibration, customer complaints, crisis management, training, and supplier approvals.
Support Food Safety/HACCP Program policies and procedures.
Work with external Inspectors and Auditors to ensure that corrective actions have been implemented as necessary per evolving business needs.
Coordinate routine testing with external labs and expert resources.
Report discrepancies to all relevant departments for immediate and long-term correction and prevention of non-conformances.
Oversee employee training program, including new hire training, in English and Spanish.
Be the primary point of contact during audits, CAR’s, Customer Complaints, and all necessary inspection and investigation processes within the facility.
Play an integral role in supporting the quarterly Food Safety review and Recall system activities and practices.
Must remain knowledgeable and keep the facility current on all regulatory changes or amendments implemented per FDA, FSMA and State of Texas, or federally regulated agency overseeing Food Safety and Food Defense requirements for Food Manufacturing.
Support continuous improvement initiatives and food safety objectives.
Work closely with the Plant Manager to assess product or process discrepancies and collaborate to determine solutions.
Complete regular inspections of incoming raw materials and components involved in the production process, including physical inspections as well as ensuring pertinent CoA’s, spec sheets and other documentation are received, reviewed for accuracy, and retained.
Support New Product Development as it relates to shelf-life studies, changes to HACCP plans, supplier approvals, and food safety.
Implement SOPs to minimize risk, including creation or revision of existing SOP’s and forms to maintain compliance with SQF standards of operation.
Requirements:
Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a similar role in Food or Beverage Manufacturing, or a combination of education and relevant experience.
Formal education at a recognized College or University in the field of Food Science, Nutrition/Nutraceutical or related, or reasonable combination of college education and Quality Assurance/Quality Control experience.
Possess a PCQI and SQF Certification (PREFERRED). Quality Assurance/food related certifications (such as BRC/AIB/HACCP) will be considered an asset, specifically SQF and PCQI Certifications.
Confident to be a leader and make decisions prescribing corrective actions.
Ability to meet deadlines and delegate responsibilities to appropriate personnel.
Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions and communicate with individuals and teams.
Perform all work in a safe manner, following all health and safety operating procedures.
Able to lift up to 30 lbs, sit or stand for long periods of time.
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, specifically Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced and demanding manufacturing environment.
