  • Lead and coach a skilled QA team, creating a strong test-driven culture that values quality, learning and accountability

  • Partner closely with engineering leaders, delivery teams and suppliers to embed quality from design through to release
  • Oversee test planning, execution and reporting to ensure software is secure, reliable and fit for purpose
  • Keep quality visible—using metrics and insights to support confident, timely decision-making
  • Drive continuous improvement across test practices, tools and environments
  • Play a hands-on role in releases, ensuring high-risk issues are identified and resolved before production
  • Balance people leadership with delivery—supporting performance, growth and wellbeing while meeting delivery goals

Your Team / Tō Rōpū

You’ll lead a dedicated Quality Assurance team sitting at the heart of Lotto NZ’s Software Delivery function. This team plays a critical role in protecting the integrity, security and reliability of the systems New Zealanders trust every day.

Working closely with software engineers, delivery leaders and external partners, your team ensures quality is built in from the start—across requirements, design, testing and release. From customer-facing digital platforms to complex integrations, the work spans multiple technologies and delivery approaches.

The team is focused on lifting test maturity across the organisation—building strong frameworks, improving environments and embedding test-driven thinking. With frequent releases and ongoing change, quality is not an afterthought; it’s a shared responsibility your team champions.

As Quality Assurance Manager, you bring people leadership and technical direction together. You’ll support the Principal QA Manager, develop capability across the team, and ensure everyone has what they need to succeed—clear standards, strong partnerships and room to grow.

You Will Bring

  • Experience leading and developing QA or testing teams in complex technology environments
  • A strong understanding of how software is built and tested, across different delivery approaches
  • Confidence setting clear testing standards and improving test practices over time
  • The ability to balance people leadership with hands-on delivery focus
  • A practical mindset—you can spot risks early and help teams solve problems calmly and clearly
  • Experience working with digital platforms, integrations or multi system environments
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with technical and non technical colleagues
  • A customer first mindset, with a genuine care for delivering quality and reliability
