RWT Consulting Group’s client is a major player in dairy manufacturing, looking to bring on board a Quality Assurance (QA) Manager to oversee and maintain quality control systems to ensure the dairy cheese manufacturing process meets all safety, regulatory, and quality standards.

This role is essential in ensuring product consistency, compliance with health and safety regulations, and continuous improvement efforts. The QA Manager will work closely with plant management and other departments to improve operational efficiency while guaranteeing that all finished products are safe, high-quality, and meet customer specifications

Responsibilities

Quality Control and Assurance:

Develop, implement, and manage the Quality Assurance (QA) program to ensure compliance with internal and external standards (e.g., FDA, USDA, SQF, ISO).

Conduct regular inspections, audits, and testing to ensure all products meet company and regulatory quality standards.

Monitor critical control points in the cheese manufacturing process to identify and resolve quality issues promptly.

Ensure all incoming raw materials and packaging meet quality specifications.

Oversee the calibration and maintenance of testing equipment and instruments.

Analyze trends in product defects and implement corrective actions.

Team Leadership:

Lead and manage the QA team, including technicians and quality inspectors.

Provide training and guidance to staff to ensure they understand quality procedures, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.

Foster a culture of quality and continuous improvement among all plant employees

Compliance & Regulatory Oversight:

Ensure the facility adheres to all local, state, and federal regulations, including food safety laws and health codes.

Work closely with regulatory bodies during inspections and audits to ensure compliance.

Prepare and maintain documentation required for compliance audits, quality certifications, and traceability.

Product Quality Improvement:

Analyze data from quality tests, inspections, and production reports to identify opportunities for process optimization.

Lead the implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) for any quality deficiencies.

Collaborate with R&D and production teams to ensure quality standards are met during new product launches or process modifications.

Reporting & Documentation:

Maintain accurate records of quality control activities, including test results, corrective actions, and audits.

Prepare and present quality reports to the Plant Manager, highlighting trends, issues, and improvement efforts.

Investigate customer complaints and returns, ensuring corrective actions are implemented to prevent future occurrences.

Supplier Management:

Assess and audit suppliers for adherence to quality standards and requirements

Develop and implement vendor qualification programs to ensure raw materials and ingredients meet quality criteria.

Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or a related field.

Relevant certifications in Quality Assurance (e.g., HACCP, SQF, PCQI) are required

Experience:

5-10 years of experience in the Quality Assurance Department of food companies, with a current position as a Quality Assurance Manager.

Preferably, experience in the dairy industry or cheese manufacturing.

Skills:

In-depth knowledge of food safety regulations and quality standards in the dairy industry.

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.) and quality management software.
