Position Overview:
The QA engineer ensures that SSI Schaefer Systems’ quality standards for software and software development are met. This position requires knowledge about software development processes, software QA tools and methodologies and intra-logistical processes. They will work closely with development teams to create and implement test plans, write test cases, execute testing strategies, track software defects, and maintain test tools.
Essential Functions:
Collaborate with development teams to understand software requirements and design
Create and execute test cases to validate functionality, usability, performance, and security
Identify, document, and track software defects using bug tracking tools
Assist in the maintenance and upkeep of testing environments and infrastructure
Contribute to the continuous improvement of testing processes and practices
Provide updates and status reports on testing activities to project teams and other stakeholders
Assist more senior QA team members with complex testing tasks as needed
Troubleshoot system issues in 1st, 2nd or 3rd level depending on project requirements
Support on-site project teams or external customer teams as needed
Additional Responsibilities:
Occasionally handle test product required for test scenarios on-site (Tubs, Totes, Cases etc.)
Commission and test software on-site
Support system ramp-up and go-live on-site
Qualification Requirements:
4-year degree in Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience in similar work.
1 year of experience with Java or other object-oriented programming languages
1 year of experience with SQL databases (Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server)
International travel may be required for training, project assignments and commissioning
