We are seeking a seasoned and detail-oriented Quality Assurance (QA) Consultant to support a high-visibility IT project for a California state agency. The QA Consultant will be responsible for overseeing and guiding quality assurance efforts including test planning, traceability, risk tracking, and vendor coordination. This is a remote-first role, with occasional on-site presence in Sacramento, CA, as requested by the DMV.
WORKSITE: Remote (Pacific Time hours required); occasional onsite in Sacramento, CA upon request
WORK SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM PT
COMPENSATION: $65.00 -$70.00 per hour
ANTICIPATED START DATE: May 1, 2025, INITIAL TERM: 12 months
OPTIONAL EXTENSIONS: Up to three (3) 6-month extensions

What You’ll Do
Perform QA oversight across the project lifecycle including planning, risk/issue tracking, traceability, and test documentation
Collaborate with state and third-party vendor teams to ensure QA compliance and deliverables
Maintain and monitor risk logs, issue logs, and test execution plans
Validate deliverables against project requirements and ensure quality control procedures are followed
Create and manage QA documentation including test cases, traceability matrices, and defect logs
Facilitate testing coordination, status reporting, and stakeholder communication
Participate in QA reviews, audits, and readiness assessments
What You’ll Bring
Mandatory Qualifications (All Required):
5+ years QA experience with state/federal agencies and third-party vendors
5+ years QA experience (within the last 8 years) including work with risk/issue logs, traceability, testing, and deliverables
5+ years QA experience in large-scale public or private organizations
Desirable Qualifications (Preferred)
3+ years QA experience with California state agencies
PMP, Scrum Master, or ITIL certifications
Additional public sector QA experience
Resume must include project details, duties, and references

Candidate must fit within the CMAS labor category (e.g., IT Consultant)

Administrative Requirements
Must reside in the U.S.
Must be available during Pacific Time business hours
Must be willing and able to travel onsite to Sacramento if requested by the DMV
