We are seeking a detail-oriented Quality Control Technician/ CMM Programmer to ensure the accuracy and reliability of precision-manufactured components. This role involves conducting thorough inspections, utilizing advanced measurement tools, and maintaining quality standards throughout the production process. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, hands-on experience with precision measuring equipment, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement.
Core Responsibilities:
Perform detailed inspections of tools, gauges, fixtures, and complex components to verify workmanship and functionality.
Develop and implement inspection methods, ensuring compliance with quality control standards.
Utilize advanced gauging systems and adapt existing inspection equipment as needed.
Set up, program, and operate Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) for first article inspections and routine quality checks.
Perform manual surface plate measurements and utilize various hand gauges for precision analysis.
Assist engineering teams with CMM programming and modifications to accommodate production needs.
Accurately document test data, analyze results, and report deviations or trends affecting product quality.
Utilize Microsoft Excel to maintain and interpret inspection records, supporting data-driven decision-making.
Provide detailed reports to management on product performance, defects, and recommended corrective actions.
Conduct routine calibration and maintenance of metrology equipment to ensure ongoing accuracy.
Identify and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, ensuring minimal disruption to the production process.
Train and mentor team members on inspection techniques, quality standards, and best practices.
Work closely with manufacturing and engineering teams to resolve quality issues and enhance processes.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
Associate degree in a technical field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
3-5 years of experience in quality control, inspection, or a related role.
Technical Skills:
3-5 years of CMM programming experience (Mitutoyo CMMs & MCOSMOS preferred).
Experience with contracers and related software.
Strong understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
Proficient in Microsoft Office, with a focus on Excel.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and inspection specifications.
Analytical & Problem-Solving Abilities:
Ability to collect and analyze data, identify quality issues, and implement corrective actions.
Strong mathematical skills, including calculations involving rates, ratios, and tolerances.
Interpersonal & Communication Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills for reporting findings and collaborating with teams.
Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment while maintaining attention to detail.
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
Regular standing, walking, and manual operation of precision measuring tools.
Ability to lift and move up to 35 pounds occasionally.
Work in proximity to moving machinery, with possible exposure to noise, airborne particles, and chemicals.
