Overview:
Opportunity with a growing stable company providing sustainable technology solutions to clients across the globe. The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) will manage the Non-Conformance Review (NCR) process, conduct root cause analysis, and oversee corrective actions. This position involves the development of suppliers, execution of new supplier audits/surveys, handling ECRs and deviations, as well as generating KPIs, reports, and analyses to ensure compliance with quality standards. The SQE identifies root causes and implements long-term solutions, assists suppliers with CARs, and works with the production team to review inspection requirements to ensure customer expectations are exceeded.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Lead the evaluation of NCR’s and provide technical expertise for timely resolution of manufacturing process and design problems.
Perform investigations, statistical studies, and problem solving to identify and evaluate supplier NCR’s.
Visit suppliers to review NCR’s, scorecards, and scorecard reports.
Perform GAP audits, recommend process improvements, and support proper packaging procedures with suppliers.
Develop, plan, execute, and maintain a CAR program for suppliers with appropriate forms, meetings, and reports.
Review, advise, and coordinate supplier investigations/root causes for Supply Chain and related Field Service.
Lead training on proper inspection techniques, reporting, and documentation.
Provide process improvements and innovative solutions for increasing throughput while maintaining quality.
Determine and promote AQLs including inspection levels, lot sizes, sampling plans, etc.
60% time in office and/or plant, 35% domestic travel (2-3 days at a time typical) 5% International travel (1-2 weeks at a time typical)
Education and Experience:
BS Industrial, Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering OR BS Industrial Technology/Manufacturing Technology or equivalent experience
5+ years as Industrial Engineer, Quality Engineer or comparable experience
Certified Weld Inspector or Certified Supplier Quality Professional is preferred
Characteristics and Skills:
Understanding engineering drawings and technical instructions, notes, etc.
Ability to conduct supplier inspections (domestic and international)
Proficient with MS Excel, Word, Teams, Outlook, etc.
ERP system and BOM Knowledge
Familiar with metals, castings, machining, fabrication and structural steel
Experience with gages, micrometers, torque testers, hand tools, NDE equipment etc.
Familiarity with AWS or ASME welding code (CWI)
Ability to develop test procedures, analyze non-conformances, and support corrective/ preventative actions
