Job Summary
The Quality Control Inspector will employ their extensive knowledge of welding processes, test methods, discontinuities, materials, qualifications, and standards to ensure that weldments and welding-related activities comply with all applicable quality and safety criteria.

Responsibilities

Facilitates shop quality control inspections with 3rd party inspectors.
Determines quality acceptance criteria, and trains quality control staff on quality requirements.
Completes quality control documents and works with QA Manager to ensure quality control records are properly completed and filed.
Ensures steel that leaves the shop meets quality control, AISC Standards, Industry Codes, and LB Construction quality standards.
Documents inspection results and communicate any quality issues to management.
Performs Quality Control of miscellaneous steel/architectural assemblies.
Teach while discussing errors or deficiencies in welding or other processes.
Implements safety guidelines.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Skills and Abilities

Advanced ability to read/interpret architectural, structural, and shop drawings.
Ability to check drawings issued, read drawing specs for root sizes, bevels, miters, hole sizes, gages of holes, access holes for welds.
Ability to communicate effectively with QA Manager, Shop Foreman, and interdepartmentally.
Ability to perform layout/fitting check of advanced or completed assemblies or over-sized assemblies.
Ability to read advanced, complicated shop drawings.
Ability to perform competent layout checks on radius assemblies.
Ability to maintain composure in high stress environment and resolve issues professionally.
Knowledge
Advance knowledge of welding processes and requirements.
Trained in weld inspecting per the AWS D1.1 (2020) Clause 8.1.4.2.

Education and/or Experience

High school graduate or equivalent diploma.
Associate Welding Inspector (AWI) or higher as per AWS B5.1 (2013) Clause 5.1.1.
Minimum 2 years’ experience in an occupational function with a direct relationship to weldments fabricated to national or international standards and directly involved in one or more of the areas listed under AWS B5.1 Clause 5.5.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in steel fabrication or erection.

Physical Requirements:

Meet Jaeger 2 eye exam requirements with or without corrective lens.
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Must be able to navigate active jobsites and production facilities. This includes being able to safely walk stairs, scaffold, and uneven ground, as well as duck and maneuver around obstacles.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $24.00 – $36.00 per hour
