FSQA Manager
Position Summary, Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Manager, Food Safety and Quality Assurance plans, coordinates, and directs a quality assurance program
designed to ensure quality production of products consistent with established standards by performing the
following duties personally, or through subordinate supervisors. This position is responsible for developing,
implementing and maintaining Quality Assurance Program and HACCP system, analyzing customer contact
trends, production data, and developing strategies and programs for improved product safety quality and
productivity in Bristol, IN.
Job Requirements Responsibilities and tasks are written as follows:
Formulates and maintains quality assurance objectives complementary to corporate policies and goals.
Interprets quality assurance philosophy to key personnel in the organization.
Implements, maintains and ensures the integrity of the plant food safety and quality program.
Performs quality engineering reviews of design documentation for compliance with stated requirements,
including vendor quality manuals and company quality records.
Organizes and conducts internal quality audits.
Apply statistical process control (SPC) methods for analyzing data to evaluate the current process and
process changes.
Monitors the adequacy of food safety and quality plans with actions as needed.
Assists in verifying and investigating non-conformances.
Identifies and evaluates quality problems and recommends solutions.
Evaluate, verify and report the implementation of corrective and preventive action.
Ensures that resources are provided and training is completed for personnel performing quality-related
activities.
This position has a legal responsibility to ensure that Monogram Pet Treats complies with all federal and state
regulations associated with food safety and product consistency during the absence of the Director of
Operation.
Reviews all data obtained during all quality assurance activities to ensure consistency with company policies
and procedures.
Develop innovative approaches to solve problems identified during quality assurance activities.
Keeps management team abreast of significant issues or developments identified during
quality assurance activities and actions being taken to improve the situation.
Prepares and presents technical and programming information to the management team.
Directs technical and administrative workers engaged in quality assurance activities.
Maintains a working knowledge of government and industry quality assurance codes and standards.
Plays an active role on quality management teams within the organization.
Designs and implements quality assurance training programs for key personnel in conjunction with
managers.
Investigates and adjusts customer complaints regarding quality.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Manage 5-12 Team Members in the Quality Assurance Department. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Fulfills supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training Team Members; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining Team Members; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Ideal candidates will have the following qualifications:
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or
training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a food manufacturing and USDA environment.
Previous USDA experience is preferred.
Experience with HACCP and GMP’s
Knowledge of food hygiene and sanitation processes.
Must be 18 years or older.
Certifications, Licenses and Registrations:
HACCP Certified
Trained BRC Advisor
Language Skills:
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Bilingual is preferred but not required – English/Spanish.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is required to sit; talk or hear and taste or smell.
The team members are frequently required to walk.
The team member is occasionally required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
The Team Member must occasionally lift and/or move up to twenty-five pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Specific job duties include packing samples, evaluations, testing of products, pre-op inspection and floor prep.
Work Environment and Personal Protective Equipment:
While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and
high, precarious places. The Team Member is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, extreme cold
and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Additional information includes
ability to type SOP, SSPO, Fundamental procedures-ability to communicate, to lead and to teach.
