Principal Purpose of Job

The Quality Assurance (QA) Inspector is responsible for reviewing products and materials during manufacturing to make sure they meet company requirements and quality standards. The role of a QA Inspector is to use their observational skills to notice when a material, product part or finished product differs from the specifications. QA Inspectors quickly and efficiently assess incoming products at their assigned stage of production. This can occur when sorting products on an assembly line or preparing finished products for outgoing shipments. QA Inspectors identify and remove faulty items from the production line and report them to management to prevent sending poor quality items to customers.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Ensure product meets the sample standard or customer standards.
Check machines start-ups.
Maintains the standards for the product evaluations.
Count or sample pack-out of each machine.
Perform regular quality assessments by auditing production lines, conducting attribute (aesthetic, fit, form, and color) inspections as defined by company standards and end-of-line product to approved quality standards.
Ensure that all inspection, testing, and inspection documentation are accurate, current and the data is systematically stored.
Ensure all quality retains and production retains are properly stored and documented.
Provide guidance to on-line operators.
Participate in the resolution of production, vendor, or customer related quality issues.
Reading blueprints and specifications to ensure that operations meet production standards.
Using gadgets such as micrometer and gauges to measure products when needed.
Accepting or rejecting finished products and discussing unusual inspection results with the production team.
Able to locate the source of product defects and to assure that appropriate management is aware of any issues. The QA inspector’s job becomes as much about supporting an efficient manufacturing process as it is about weeding out bad eggs.
Must be a team player and an effective communicator.
Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

High School Diploma or GED; Associates degree preferred.
2+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, plus 1+ years of experience in Quality.
Basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide, statistics).
Effective analytical skills with demonstrated success in problem-solving.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Good Interpersonal skills needed; ability to work with cross-functional teams.
Self-starter, motivated, energetic.
Experience in the consumer products industry is very desirable.
Safety: knowledge of basic PPE in the workplace.
Attention to detail.
Technical skills and ability to understand specifications, documents, and manuals.
Basic computer skills.
Teamwork mentality.
Dexterity, physical strength, and physical stamina.
Certified Quality Inspector offered by the American Society for Quality preferred.
Passing score on math, attention to detail, and basic writing pre-employment assessment test.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to frequently lift components weighing up to 25 pounds.
Ability to frequently walk production floor for product inspection.
Ability to step up onto production platform and stand for a period of time during production audits.
Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
Ability to see details at close range to detect defects.
Ability to withstand environmental temperatures

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.00 – $21.00 per hour

Expected hours: 46 per week
