Job Overview
This position is responsible for ensuring that product meets all quality and food safety standards set forth by Keany Produce & Gourmet, federal regulatory authorities, state regulatory authorities, local government authorities, GFSI and customer.
The Food Safety and Quality Assurance Lead is responsible for performing all Food Safety / Quality Departmental practices such as collecting and interpreting SPC (Statistical Process Control) data daily, performing and recording results from all production line audits for HACCP, GMP, and weights and defects, and assisting in educating all production employees in the practices of producing safe edible goods.
The QA lead also informs the Food Safety and Quality Assurance Supervisor and Director of all out of compliance materials and conditions in the facility and contain all non-conforming products and materials, and isolate and hold all substandard ingredients, sub-processed WIPs, and finished goods.
The QA Lead also assists in product development and testing with special testing and containment of test products and provides product weight and process control data analysis support to production and other key management personnel daily.
Finally, the QA lead also perform environmental sampling and work in the microbiology laboratory by preparing swab samples for shipping to external lab for test and conducting in house micro testing.
Responsibilities:
Conduct pre-shipment verification of finished products by reviewing accuracy of production sheets,
Assist QA Director with determining product specifications and writing finished product specs and photo standards,
Perform analysis of raw materials to ensure ingredients are received within specifications by grades,
Physical and organoleptic testing and micro sampling, monitor ingredient storage in warehouse for proper rotation and usage of materials,
Capable of performing Trace / Recall on all materials for potential recall at any time,
Perform weekly audits (as scheduled) to ensure systems and policy compliance including GMP’s,
Process audits, review, maintain and suggest upgrades for all established quality programs and policies on a regular basis,
Monitor all aspects of the Allergen Program including continual training, awareness,
Segregation of materials to prevent cross contamination, assist with all private and governmental audits at Keany Produce & Gourmet facilities, prepare product samples as required and set up formalized panels for product shelf-life testing and customers or audits.
This position requires the daily coordination and communication between food safety & quality assurance, operations, and all applicable support staff at the facility
Also, as part of their daily duties, the QA Lead will need to inspect value streams and processes for compliance with standards, determining methods to resolve any issues that arise.
Flexible hours required, dependent on departmental needs.
Additional duties include.
Provide team leadership and support through daily actions, coaching, and guidance to staff,
Participate in reviewing plant microbiology lab monitoring programs,
Help maintain compliance of HACCP, SSOP plans and QA and Manufacturing programs for the plant and execute process control audits and recognize deviations.
This position will help organize scheduling trainings and implement processes to review Standardized Work to align with Quality and Food Safety policies and procedures.
Assist with the HAACP verification and reviews for all areas of plant and coordinates and clarifies the QA policies and procedures.
The QA lead is the lead or participate in Root Cause problem solving events at the facility and ensure compliance with all plant related KPI’s.
Qualifications:
3 years food processing experience preferred
1-3 years management experience preferred
1-3 years’ experience with food safety and quality programs preferred
HACCP certification preferred
Education:
 High school diploma
B.Sc. in food science, microbiology, chemistry, or any related science fields preferred

Ability to lift to 70 lbs.

Must wear protective clothing including steel toed shoes
Responsible for reporting and taking any necessary action to prevent food safety and food quality problems from occurring
Responsible for following and enforcing procedures outlined in the Food Safety Plan and the Food Quality Plan and any other programs that support 3 party audits
