Position Title: Quality Assurance Tech. Specialist 2 Dept: Product Assur. & Quality Assur.

Classification: Non-Exempt, Indirect Approved By: Human Resources

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

Position Reports To: Product Assurance & Quality Assurance Manager / Director

Positions Supervised: None

POSITION PURPOSE

The Quality Assurance Technician Specialist is responsible for conducting metrology inspections, collecting, analyzing and reporting data to assure parts conformance. Perform regular supplier parts audits to assure conformance with drawing requirements and collaborate with engineers in a team environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

Performs incoming metrology inspection with minimal supervision to assure supplier parts meet the specifications outlined in the engineering drawings.
Gather, record, analyze measurement data to assure parts conformance to drawings.
Works directly with operating entities to assure inspections, statistical process control analyses and audits are conducted on a periodic basis.
Assures customer and company quality standards are being met for product components.
Assures the highest quality product is produced during the manufacturing process by performing data review, auditing processes and procedures, investigation/corrective action follow-up, and reviewing measurement & inspection procedures.
Supports engineers for effective root cause analysis and successful correction action of product parts that are nonconforming.
Under minimal supervision performs sample audit testing including, but not limited to visual, physical and environmental inspection of raw materials, in-process production and finished goods as needed.
Maintains accurate and complete documentation of all inspection and test results, either manually and/or electronically.
Issues metrology and audit test reports to cross-functional team indicating overall test progress and concerns/issues observed from the metrology work tasks.
Works closely with QA, Design and Manufacturing teams to assure subcomponents are inspected, measured and available for final production.
Assists in the development and review of work instructions to assure compliance, efficiency and clarity.
Uses established procedures and confers with QA engineers or dept. Director/Manager on key matters.
Works with and provides data to QA engineers for supplier quality ratings metrics toward business reviews.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Essential education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent; Associates degree in a technical field preferred
Minimum 2-5 years quality focused metrology experience
Minimum of 4 years experience in a manufacturing environment

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Ability to work on a team and collaborate with others
Excellent interpersonal communication skills for cross-functional team interactions
Intermediate mathematical skills for measurements and analyses tasks
Ability to use precision measuring tools, such as gages, micrometers, calipers and semi-automated contact and non-contact vision measurement equipment
Computer literacy (emails and MS Office tools)
Understand, interpret and use technical documents and part drawings for metrology purposes and ability to document and issue reports
Intermediate ability to perform environmental stress tests such as: immersion, humidity, Shock and Temperature cycling
Intermediate ability to program vision measurement equipment, capture data, work with database
Knows and assists in troubleshoot supplier NCM or process issues
Supports with implementing supplier quality assurance methods for manufacturing
Ability to successfully multi-task in fast paced manufacturing environment
Team player able to work effectively with engineers, suppliers and cross-functional teams
Have good written and verbal communication skills, as well as good organizational skills
Personal computer skills using Windows OS and MS Office, database applications are required
