* This position is located onsite in Marathon City, WI and will work 2nd shift hours*
Position Summary:
Oversees quality systems, inspection, and testing at the Marathon City facility to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, SQF, customer and internal quality standards, policies, programs, specifications, and functions. The QA supervisor collaborates with plant operations to operate the Marathon City plant safely, efficiently, and profitably.
Responsible for supervising Lead Quality Technicians, Quality Technicians, Lab Technicians, and Cheese Graders. Ensures all testing equipment and procedures meet standard requirements for ingredients, processes, and products. Leads the plant’s quality programs, including Preventive Controls/HACCP, Food Defense, audits, customer complaints, and quality certifications.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Serve as SQF Practitioner and Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI).
Supervise quality services, including GMP compliance, weight control, package integrity, customer complaints, hold/release, labeling, allergen controls, specifications, supplier monitoring, in-process materials, finished products, certificates of analysis, sanitation, pest control, and environmental monitoring to ensure quality standards are achieved and maintained.
Plan and assign work, maintain discipline, morale, and harmonious relations among staff.
Investigate personnel issues and recommend hiring, promotions, or termination.
Ensure compliance with quality system policies, programs, and procedures; maintain quality records.
Support and develop quality improvement programs and apply Key Performance Indicators.
Review quality services periodically and recommend improvements.
Develop or adapt quality equipment and procedures to meet standards, suggesting improvements as needed.
Collaborate with sanitation teams for compliance and conformance.
Lead CAPA investigations for food safety and quality complaints.
Make critical decisions quickly in a fast-paced environment.
Lead food safety and quality audits by customers, third parties, and others.
Participate in recall, food safety, and food defense teams.
Assist in developing new products, processes, equipment, and inspection criteria.
Implement and manage quality training programs for personnel.
Manage projects, including planning, scheduling, and activity coordination.
Knowledge/Experience/Skills:
Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, Food Science, or related field preferred.
1-2 years QA experience in food processing or manufacturing.
Supervisory skills for direct reports.
Certification in Preventive Controls/HACCP.
Proficiency in report writing, business communication, and presentation skills.
Problem-solving and data analysis skills.
Ability to interpret technical instructions and handle multiple variables.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Office, PowerPoint, and SAP.
