Summary of Position:
The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) supports all supplier quality-related tasks for US Cargo Systems. This multifaceted, hands-on position requires the SQE to be at the facility and involved with the day-to-day details of supplier quality while also developing relationships with sole-source suppliers to improve processes, reduce costs, and improve delivery. The SQE will process, maintain, and audit supplier documentation to support customer, regulatory, AS9100, and US Cargo Systems QMS compliance programs. The SQE will track data, identify improvement projects, and manage cross-functional implementation to improve the performance of key components and suppliers.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and implement supplier quality processes in compliance with AS9100 requirements.
Conduct supplier audits and assessments to ensure adherence to quality requirements.
Collaborate with suppliers to establish quality standards and continuous improvement initiatives.
Analyze supplier performance data and report on key metrics related to quality.
Facilitate root cause analysis and corrective action plans for supplier-related quality issues.
Support supplier qualification and approval processes for new and existing suppliers.
Coordinate with cross-functional teams to address and resolve supplier quality concerns.
Review and approve supplier quality documents, including inspection plans and test procedures.
Provide technical guidance and training to suppliers on quality processes and AS9100 requirements.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to drive quality improvement initiatives.
Lead supplier risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies.
Monitor and manage supplier non-conformance reports and ensure timely resolution.
Participate in supplier selection and evaluation processes to ensure quality capabilities.
Conduct regular reviews and updates of supplier quality management systems.
Ensure compliance with regulatory, industry, and customer-specific quality requirements.
Review and approve supplier FAIs according to AS9102 requirements.

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Assurance, or a related field.
Minimum of 3-5 years in Supplier Quality Engineering, preferably within the aerospace industry.
Strong knowledge of AS9100 standards.
Proficiency in root cause analysis and problem-solving methodologies.
Experience with corrective and preventive action processes.
Experience conducting supplier audits and assessments.
Strong competency with Microsoft Office products, Oracle, and Minitab.
Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed; approximately 25-30%.
ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or equivalent certification is preferred.

Must be able to lift a minimum of 30 pounds without stress. Must comply with OSHA standards for lifting objects.
Must have visual acuity to inspect detailed parts per design data/drawings through close vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.

Frequently required to reach with hands and arms.
Some process applications could be performed in the exterior elements for short or extended periods.
Must be able to travel.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach, and move about the facility. The environmental characteristic of this position is a manufacturing setting where noise, heat, cold, moisture, fumes, and chemicals are present. Candidates should be able to adapt to a traditional manufacturing environment.
