Role Description
A hands-on QA lead who owns quality end-to-end across our mobile and web platforms from strategy and tooling to day-to-day execution. You'll build and run our automation infrastructure, work shoulder-to-shoulder with the engineering team, and be the quality voice in every release decision. Ideal for someone who has owned QA solo or led a small team in a startup, and is comfortable being both the strategist and the person writing the test scripts.
Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end QA strategy across web dashboards and mobile apps (iOS/Android)
- Design, build, and maintain test automation frameworks for UI, API, and mobile (from scratch if needed)
- Define and enforce quality gates in the CI/CD pipeline so nothing ships without meeting the bar
- Collaborate closely with the TPM to align on sprint goals, acceptance criteria, and release readiness
- Write and execute test plans, test cases, and regression suites for every feature and release
- Triage defects, drive root cause analysis, and work with devs to close issues fast
- Track and report quality metrics to leadership – coverage, defect escape rate, automation ROI
- Champion a quality-first culture across the engineering team, not just within QA
Requirements
- 5+ years in QA, with at least 2 years owning automation in a mobile + web environment
- Hands-on experience with mobile automation – Appium, Detox, Espresso, or XCUITest
- Solid web automation skills – Playwright or Cypress preferred; Selenium acceptable
- API testing experience with Postman or equivalent
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams
- Proficient with Jira or equivalent for defect tracking and test management
- Strong communicator
Nice to have
- Experience with performance or security testing
- Familiarity with wearable, health, or IoT products
- Prior experience as a solo or founding QA hire at a startup
