We are a leading manufacturer of water-soluble polymers seeking a Lab Tech I to join our team!!
This role is responsible for all aspects of quality monitoring for production operations. Responsible to analyze standard and non‐standard samples to ensure that the quality of the materials tested meet or exceed standards of acceptable criteria. Maintain quality results in database. Communicate with our R&D lab and customer service to provide additional data and customer samples needed.
This role is required to work on rotating shifts (and overtime as designated) , must be flexible to work days/nights, weekend on-call rotation, and holidays (24/7 facility) is required. Our schedules are based upon business needs and are subject to change according to business needs.
Responsibilities (Not inclusive list):
1. All aspects of quality monitoring/testing for production operations.
2. Responsible to analyze standard and non‐standard samples to ensure that the quality of the materials tested meet or exceed standards of acceptable criteria.
3. Test in‐process and final products produced.
4. Monitor production quality and record all necessary activity.
5. Identify problems, troubleshoot issues and report status or quality deficiencies to supervisor.
6. Observe proper inventory levels to support all anticipated needs of the QA Lab.
7. Inspect instruments and equipment to determine the need for repairs and guarantee accuracy by performing regular inspections as designated.
8. Keep updated records of calibration, controls analysis, test results, inventory and activity logs.
9. Ensure all instruments operate within designed parameters.
10. Maintain quality results in database.
11. Follow all written and verbal work instructions or procedures.
12. Follow all safety policies and procedures (rules).
13. Help maintain a clean, safe, and orderly laboratory.
14. Pay utmost attention to detail in every aspect of the job, every day.
15. Work overtime and rotating schedule (flexible schedule including days, nights, weekends and holidays/On call weekend rotating schedule is required).
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, sitting, crouching, and the use of step stools. The employee may frequently lift and/or move items of 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Position Qualifications:
Education Qualifications:
· Associates degree in sciences (i.e. chemistry/bio chemistry) with laboratory requirement is preferred.
· Successful completion of a laboratory technician training program at a community college, or a technical school program (equal to a two-year Associates degree), or similar technical training including technical apprenticeship and troubleshooting with two (2) years QA/QC lab experience required.
Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications:
1. A valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
2. Reliable transportation is crucial to position.
Skills/Experience:
1. 2 years, quality laboratory experience preferred. Experience preferred in an industrial setting is preferred
2. Self‐motivation and direction to ensure day to day requirements are addressed
3. Ability to be trained in standard operating procedures
4. Excellent oral and written communication skills
5. Ability to read, write, and follow verbal instructions in English.
6. Analytical analysis experience in working with acids, bases, or other hazardous chemicals
7. Ability to trouble shoot equipment/instrument deficiencies and recommend corrective action
8. Ability to work in a formal quality control system
9. Working knowledge of Standard Programs used for Office, Laboratory and Plant Environments
10. Working knowledge of Microsoft office system to include Word, Excel, and Outlook is required.
