Job Summary

The Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for verifying the conformity of incoming materials, in-process work, and finished machine tool components to engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements. This role performs dimensional and visual inspections, documents inspection results and nonconformances, and supports calibration and quality management system activities.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Inspection & Quality Verification

  • Perform incoming, in-process, first-article, and final inspections in accordance with established procedures, including risk-based incoming inspection requirements
  • Interpret engineering drawings and GD&T callouts in accordance with ASME Y14.5 standards; identify critical dimensions and applicable specifications
  • Conduct dimensional inspections using precision measurement equipment, including calipers, micrometers, height gages, and indicators
  • Accurately record measurement data and inspection results, ensuring clear pass/fail documentation
  • Verify that products and components meet engineering, quality, and customer requirements

Supplier Quality & Documentation

  • Review and verify supplier documentation, including Certificates of Conformance (CoC) and Material Test Reports (MTR)
  • Upload, attach, and maintain quality records in accordance with company procedures
  • Complete and maintain inspection records as objective evidence of product conformity
  • Ensure documentation is accurate, complete, and readily accessible for audits and traceability purposes

Nonconformance Management

  • Identify nonconforming materials, components, or products during inspection activities
  • Segregate and properly tag nonconforming items to prevent unintended use
  • Initiate and document Nonconformance Reports (NCRs) in accordance with established procedures
  • Support investigations and corrective actions related to quality issues as required

Calibration & Quality System Support

  • Support the company calibration program by verifying calibration status of inspection equipment prior to use
  • Assist with calibration activities and confirm calibration labels are current and accurate
  • Identify and report overdue or out-of-tolerance measuring equipment
  • Support internal audits and other Quality Management System (QMS) activities as assigned

Teamwork & Operational Support

  • Perform assigned duties with minimal supervision while maintaining the quality and safety standards established by NSH USA Corporation
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, and quality personnel to address inspection and quality-related concerns
  • Report directly to the Manager, Quality Engineering
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Shop Supervisors or the Director of Manufacturing Operations within the scope of the position

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Associate degree or technical certificate in manufacturing, machining, quality assurance, or a related field preferred
  • One to three years of inspection or quality experience in a machining, manufacturing, or precision production environment
  • Experience working with engineering drawings and inspection documentation preferred

Technical Skills

  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret engineering drawings; GD&T knowledge and interpretation preferred
  • Proficiency in the use of precision measurement instruments and the ability to accurately document measurement data
  • Strong shop math skills
  • General knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment, metals, and material properties
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001:2015 quality management systems preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications and the ability to work effectively within an ERP system

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to regularly lift and carry up to 40 pounds
  • Ability to stand and move throughout a manufacturing facility for the duration of a work shift
  • Adequate near-vision (with corrective lenses if necessary) to perform precision measurement and inspection activities
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated areas

Working Conditions

  • Work is performed primarily in a manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery, noise, and varying temperatures
  • Frequent interaction with production, engineering, and quality personnel
  • Use of required PPE is mandatory in designated manufacturing areas

Salary Range: $30-34 (hourly, non-exempt)

This is a Union shop.
