Carr Valley Cheese is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Quality Assurance Technician who is passionate about food safety, quality, and continuous improvement. This role plays a critical part in maintaining our SQF-certified food safety system, supporting laboratory testing, and ensuring regulatory compliance across plant and field operations.

What You’ll Do

As a Quality Assurance Technician, you will:

Support Food Safety & Quality Systems

  • Maintain and strengthen SQF systems (SQF Code Edition 10)
  • Assist SQF Practitioner responsibilities and compliance initiatives

Audit & Compliance

  • Prepare for and support internal, SQF, and regulatory audits
  • Manage documentation and follow-up on audit findings

Continuous Improvement

  • Investigate non-conformances
  • Support corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
  • Drive ongoing quality improvements

Laboratory & Testing

  • Perform product, environmental, and wastewater testing
  • Accurately record, analyze, and report results

Regulatory & Wastewater Programs

  • Oversee DNR wastewater compliance, testing, and reporting
  • Maintain accurate regulatory records

Documentation & Recordkeeping

  • Manage specifications, traceability, and compliance documentation
  • Maintain organized and audit-ready records

Supplier & Milk Quality

  • Support supplier approval and compliance programs
  • Act as a field representative for milk quality initiatives

FARM Program Support

  • Maintain records and ensure compliance
  • Assist with program coordination and improvements

Training & Culture

  • Support employee food safety training
  • Promote a strong food safety culture across teams

Customer & Regulatory Communication

  • Respond to customer documentation requests
  • Coordinate with regulatory agencies and external auditors

What We’re Looking For

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Dairy Science, Microbiology, or related field (preferred)
  • Knowledge of SQF, HACCP, and GMPs
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication (written & verbal)
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Problem-solving mindset with a focus on continuous improvement
  • Ability to work independently and cross-functionally
  • Comfortable working in plant, lab, and field environments
  • Dairy or food manufacturing experience is a plus (not required)

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, and work in an active production environment
  • Lift up to 25 lbs. regularly and 50 lbs. occasionally
  • Maintain regular attendance and meet physical demands of the role
  • Communicate effectively in team and customer settings
