This position is on-site Monday through Friday in New Hampton, IA.
Accountability Objective
This position is responsible for working with project teams through APQP phases to prevent quality defects in product and process design and development. This role is responsible for statistical data analysis and reporting of measured quality results. The incumbent also supports quality issues in production including those impacting TriMark’s customers and will seek corrective actions for repeat occurrences or high dollar instances; all efforts driving towards zero defects.

Nature and Scope
This position reports to the Director of Quality, as do the Quality Manager, Supplier Quality Engineer, QMS Assistant, Quality Assurance Technicians, Inspectors and Sort & Rework Operators.
The position is responsible for supporting and assisting design and process engineering APQP efforts at TriMark Corporation with established quality control disciplines to ensure the highest quality standards, prevent errors and drive to zero defects. The incumbent will also assume responsibilities as assigned by the Vice President of Global Quality Assurance & Strategic Supplier Development regarding TriMark Global Quality efforts at all locations.
The incumbent must have a broad knowledge of Quality Assurance, Design and Manufacturing Processes as related to TriMark to ensure effective quality control for the company and customers. Additionally, the position must be technically specialized with the most current knowledge and experience in Quality methods. Specifically, the position must provide the technical expertise in all core Quality tools including but not limited to APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) MSA (Measurement Systems Analysis), SPC (Statistical Process Control), FMEA (Failure Mode Effects Analysis), PPAP (Production Part Approval Process), Process Capability Study, etc. The Quality Engineer is responsible for advancing and ensuring APQP methodology is utilized at TriMark.
The incumbent must be an effective communicator to individuals and groups alike, both in written and oral forms.
The incumbent must develop extensive product knowledge of TriMark’s product line. The position must understand quality costs and how they can affect the “bottom line”. The position’s primary focus is on the prevention of defects. The position will make recommendation of process improvements, engineering changes, and product performance improvements.
The position seeks a Bachelors’ degree in mechanical engineering or other related technical areas from an accredited college or university or five plus years related experience and/or training with a certified Quality Engineering Certificate, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be familiar with basic hand metrology equipment, such as gage blocks, calipers, micrometers, surface plate layouts, optical comparators, etc. CMM machine knowledge or experience is helpful. Must have a working knowledge of ASME Y14.5M, working knowledge of GD&T, and must understand the x, y, z coordinate system. Quality Engineer or Quality Technician certification is desired.
Principal Accountabilities
1. Liaison with design and process engineers and QA Technicians to interpret technical drawings to ensure quality characteristics such as views, datums, dimensioning, tolerancing, GD&T symbols, etc. are applied properly. Interpret specification requirements in relation to product and process characteristics.
2. Provide input to DFMEAs and PFMEAs to ensure all possible failure modes of designs and processes are identified and addressed prior to production to prevent errors.
3. Ensure proper prevention/detection devices (fixtures, gauges, etc.) needed for production are considered during the development of the product development project and costed appropriately.
4. Conduct measurement systems analysis (such as gage R&R studies) and calculate, analyze, and interpret repeatability and reproducibility results taking into account measurement error, bias, linearity, etc.
5. Prepare, analyze and interpret control charts, using rules for determining statistical control to ensure process stability.
6. Define, perform, calculate, and analyze process capability studies, including identifying characteristics, specifications, and tolerances and developing sampling plans for such studies.
7. Attend pilot / pre-production runs to ensure processes are validated against Control Plan to ensure quality defects are prevented once product is in production.
8. Seek internal MRB corrective actions and monitor manufacturing MRB’s.
9. Support the Securing Quality Initiative and prepare quality charts/information for posting on Securing Quality Boards; Share information with production personnel as needed.
10. Perform statistical analysis and reporting of process and measured data.
11. Strive for Continual Improvement to decrease costs, improve quality, improve on-time delivery and productivity.
12. This position supports the continual improvement and compliance of QMS and EMS.

· Basic understanding of Windchill software, and ability to create, update, and store data into Windchill
· Comprehensive knowledge and application of core quality tools: APQP, PPAP, SPC, MSA, FMEA, Process Capability Study and applicable documented information
· Ability to successfully lead MRB Corrective Actions and close in timely fashion
· Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to work well with fellow QA associates and employees from all departments

· Ability to identify problems, independently understand and apply basic problem-solving techniques, identify root cause and apply RCA tools, and facilitate problem solving process to resolve issues in a fast-paced environment
· Strong fact-based decision-making skills supported by data analysis
· Thorough knowledge of current version of ISO9001 and IATF16949 standard requirements and process approach to auditing
· Comprehensive ability to review Control Plans and FMEAs for adequacy to ensure quality processes that are in control
· Basic knowledge of computer software applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), web-based systems, Minitab, and JDE
Working Conditions
Conditions may require some traveling mostly in the Midwest with the possibility of international. The office area in the plant is air-conditioned and working conditions are excellent. This area requires normal or corrected vision with no color deficiency, normal depth perception and peripheral vision of 180 degrees. Safety glasses are required whenever office personnel are in the plant production area. The noise level is 50 to 80 DB’s; hearing protection is not required. Hearing protection is encouraged if office personnel will be spending more than brief periods in high-noise areas of the plant.
