JOB SUMMARY:
The Training & Quality Specialist (TQS) is responsible for training hourly workers and ensuring quality standards across all departments of the DC. This role delivers comprehensive and engaging training programs that prepare individuals for their roles at DHL, considering diverse learning styles and fostering motivation. Additionally, the TQS conducts thorough audits of employee work and supports identification of root cause issues. This role actively participates in the implementation of improvement measures to enhance quality performance in line with DHL’s vision to be the Quality Leader. A strong understanding of DC operations, training methodologies, and quality control processes is required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Training:

Conduct training and orientations for hourly and agency workers using the best practice “Training the DHL Way” methodology in all departments: EN, IB, OB and Dock/Receiving
Conduct on the job continuous training and cross training including safety and quality methods.
Provide continuous coaching, motivational and developmental feedback to hourly workers to reinforce training concepts and support with skill development.
Administer 1st 30 Day SOP and continue developing employees as part of the first-year journey at DHL.
Responsible for training hourly workers on newly introduced processes, ensuring a smooth transition and comprehensive understanding of the updated procedures.
Provide recurrent training for all certifications and mandated safety-training programs including TSA/DG trainings in Veroot.
Daily reporting of training activities in designated tools, documents and share sites.
Partner with the Training and Quality Manager or Supervisors to support the development of job instructions and training aids.

Quality:

Conduct comprehensive audits to ensure exceptional quality, including but not limited to reviewing containers for accurate sorting, validating gaylords for correct routing, placards, and container IDs,
Inspecting package labels for print quality, tracing discrepancies back to origin DC, station, or customer for necessary corrections.
Demonstrate “Best Practices” for employees; assist employees, provide direction, coach package handlers when exceptions are discovered, report on and apprise supervisor of any issues that may occur.
Demonstrate and work with employees to move product through each step of the process flow.
Conduct pre-shift communication meetings regarding quality to provide tips and increase quality awareness.
Create and maintain the daily recap report of identified errors, review with Supervisor or Manager.
Supports the investigation & resolution of local quality-related issues in partnership with the Training and Quality Manager or Supervisor to help identify root cause issues and to make correction recommendations.
Essential duties are not necessarily exhaustive and may be supplemented or otherwise revised by DHL at its sole discretion.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

High school or equivalent
A degree, qualification, or evidence of continuous professional development in your area of expertise a plus.
Internal candidates: 6 months experience in DHL operations
External candidates: 1 year experience in training or quality (in an operational environment or logistics industry a plus).

REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS:

Ability to read, write and speak English. Ability to speak a second language a plus.
Excellent Communication skills and ability to explain tasks to others.
Understand standardized math processes.
Well-versed in production standards, ensuring that employees receive comprehensive training to effectively meet and exceed these standards to deliver optimal results.
Basic Excel skills
Certification in TWI – (will be provided during onboarding)
Have a continuous improvement mindset.
Ability to use technology: Internet, email, tablet apps.
Strong time management, deadline adherence, and organizational skills are essential.
Observe and read gauges, instruments, dials to determine operating processes and procedures.
Work with minimal supervision, under pressure and on several tasks at the same time.
Interact with employees in a respectful and professional manner.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The ability to lift/push/pull mail and parcels weighing up to 50 lbs.
Frequently observe and determine the levels of productivity and output of personnel.
Frequently communicate with departmental personnel to assign, lead, coordinate work activities, and ensure production standards are met.
This is a warehouse environment where frequently this position will be exposed to cold, hot, and changing temperatures; will constantly experience noise at medium level not damaging or loud enough to require protective equipment; will frequently be exposed to dust, dirt, and changes in lighting.
